The XFL finds a home in Soldier Field

Stamford, CT/Chicago, IL. June 13, 2000 -

The XFL, a new professional football league jointly owned and operated by World Wrestling Federation Entertainment, Inc. and NBC, officially confirmed Chicago as the first of eight charter cities. The Chicago franchise will play all five of their home games at Soldier Field. The league also introduced the team's vice president and general manager, Ken Valdiserri. As the principal front office executive, Valdiserri will direct all aspects of the team's operations and be responsible for building a winning and successful franchise in Chicago. The official team name and logo will be unveiled at a later date. The remaining seven cities will be announced by July 1, 2000.
