Trevor Siemien has been rumored......but he's already shown to be underwhelming as an NFL starter.........so why should the XFL showcase him? I would rather see a guy......an undrafted or at least untested QB that just gets lost in the numbers game. A guy who'll likely see preseason reps but was a longshot to make the roster from the start. Not a Geno Smith,. not a Nathan Peterman. A guy, who when he suits up in an XFL uniform will be making his first true impression in the pro ranks. Not a hand-me-down Quarterback.....for obvious reasons,. are the most visible. So it's important. This is who you're building your team around more or less.
The XFL should be taking the best players willing to play in the league, period. If Trevor Siemien is better than a longshot QB from a small school, they should take Siemien. One of the lessons learned from the original XFL is that quality of play matters.
I am not a Trevor Siemien guy but I agree with this.

If it’s a former 1st or 2nd round pick in the NFL or an undrafted player. Whomever proves himself to be the best starting option should be on the field.

The XFL is not a developmental league. You can’t have a bunch of inexperienced or rookie quarterbacks on the field, unless they earn it. It will lead to ugly quarterback play. Just go see the AAF. The QB play in that league was shaky at best. In a league where the rules favored the QBs with limited or no blitzing allowed. The majority of first year starting quarterbacks struggle.

In a perfect world. XFL Teams will uncover an inexperienced or young quarterback that plays lights out and becomes a star. Hopefully that happens. The best players need to play period. Let the coaches decide that. This isn’t a developmental league.

Happy medium for me is Gardner Minshew. I would love to see the XFL give him a tier one salary to play in Seattle, if he gets released and gets a practice squad spot. I realize that this is an extreme longshot. I like redemption stories as well as underdog stories like an undrafted player. So I will be happy with a Connor Cook or Cardale Jones led XFL team.

I'm a Jaguars fan, so while I appreciate your interest in Minshew, I'd much rather see the Jags keep him (even as I acknowledge he'd be an interesting fit for the XFL) over the other options they have for a backup QB - Alex McGough and Tanner Lee :)

I get that for sure. Funny thing is that when McGough was on Seattle. Pete Carroll was asked about the XFL and he specifically brought up McGough as a player that could benefit from playing in the XFL. Seattle decided to go the young vet route behind Russell Wilson rather than go with an unproven player like McGough. Truth is that I think Minshew could be a future starter in Jacksonville and those other names on that list don’t inspire confidence behind Nick Foles.

Eric Dungey is now available.
I am a bit surprised by that. Not so much that Dungey was cut but at such an early stage. There was talk of him trying out new positions with the Giants like tight end even. So I figured that he would be in developmental mode during the summer. He looked like a practice squad possibility. Perhaps with another team. Eric Dungey would garner XFL consideration if he doesn't find a new home in the XFL.
