Turpin just pleaded guilty to assault of his girlfriend. He was kicked off the team at TCU. He was banned from working out at his pro day. This invite has kind of been swept under the rug thus far.
Stunned to hear that he's been invited. I guess I have to admit I've misread the XFL's thought process here.
I am stunned too. No denying the skill set. Hal Mumme and June Jones offenses are tailor made for him.

It is just an invite at this point. Turpin might test through the roof. The showcases are also for interviewing with the team and league staff. That’s probably the area that will determine whether he gets a league contract or not.

You’re welcome.

The showcases are just the first phase. Tryouts for non CFL and non NFL rostered players.

So it’s going to be former AAF players, Rookie free agents, Spring League players etc... The player pool will expand some after CFL cuts in early June.

The XFL is going to be sending scouts to all NFL training camps and the preseason. That’s their big prep for the NFL’s cutdown day.

The XFl’s Draft pool is probably going to have about 600 players in it.

I was shocked myself. I don't know the exact details of the case but it obviously wasn't good. He should be kept on an extremely short leash but if he is repentant and doesn't continue that pattern of behavior like Tyreek Hill did I don't see why the XFL shouldn't give him a shot.

Hearing that former Redskins and Saints DE/OLB Junior Galette has accepted an invite to The XFL’s Summer Showcase. First sign of an NFL veteran who was out of the league last year after playing 8 seasons in the league, wanting to be a part of this process.

That's pretty big. I'm assuming Galette should be signed.

There’s always a chance that he gets an NFL contract for the veteran minimum somewhere. Especially with injuries happening, like his former team Washington had with Foster. This tells me that Galette wants to still play. Impressive that a 31 year old veteran would consider a combine style tryout

You'd think a guy like him would be in phase 2 or 3 of the signings, not phase 1. Maybe he'll skip some drills like players do at the NFL combine. Can players skip drills at the XFL Summer Showcase?

@mikemitchell, I figured as much as i've been reading, trying to keep up with all the updates. I've been following the XFL, and The Spring League for some time, of course as well the NFL way before these 2 leagues.

It was sad to see the AFF disband before it had a chance. It was the first real opportunity for players to be able to cross over, without having to go to the CFL. I liked the concept as it seemed like a true funnel for overlooked players to make it to the NFL, or to the NFL.

It's nice to see the XFL, and the Spring League come back from their previous runs. Brian Woods especially putting together a very solid program again with the Spring League. I guess if guys don't get an invite, there is a chance to be invited to the Spring League, and hopefully make something happen.

The CFL already had tryouts going on, right after the Draft, and guys who were invited to NFL mini camps, couldn't make it. So then that opportunity gets missed, and then when ya think about it, only 100 invites to the XFL showcases, being so many players out there with NFL experience, mixed with street prospects, and now allowing college guys, it seems still kinda limited.

It would be nice to have in addition to all of these new leagues, to bring back the American football league again, in addition to the NFL.

Do you think there will ever be a true developmental league for football? By the way you seem very knowledgeable about the XFL.
