That’s a great point. From a football standpoint. This tandem has a great advantage.

The other element to this is marketing. XFL Dallas already had a strong hook with Stoops. Now with Moose on board. It strengthens the teams chances to draw in Dallas football fans. The stadium is going to be retrofitted for football. So it won’t be that large. It will be in that 25k range. With nearby Houston and traveling Oklahoma fans. This team should have no issues filling up that stadium for 5 home games.
XFL Dallas had to go with popular well known names with local ties otherwise they would have gotten lost in the shuffle and probably would have had the same coverage as the WNBA's Dallas Wings, which is zero.

And having packed crowds will make for great broadcasting. Forget LA vs St. Louis, the Dallas vs Houston rivalry will be legendary!

It had to depend on who was in charge. If it was like say Dave Campo or Chan Gailey as Head Coach/GM, nobody would have cared despite both having been former Cowboys Head Coaches.

I agree. That being stated. Football is king in Texas and Arlington is a great location to provide pro football in the spring.

Biggest mistake that the original XFL had was having no teams in Texas. They really hit it big with Dallas and Houston. They have the right hires in place and the perfect stadiums.

Original XFL wanted to be in San Antonio, but the Spurs were still playing in the Alamodome and they couldn't secure the dates.

I agree. Although football always trumps women’s basketball in Texas. You put out a quality product in Texas and people will show in Texas, Dallas and the areas surrounding it. Especially if it’s good football.

I remember. You can’t have a football league without Texas. No disrespect to Memphis and Birmingham but Texas is king from a football and market standpoint.

This is the first Dallas team to play in an outdoor non-NFL league since the 1960-1962 Dallas Texans of the American Football League. Dallas has had no history of supporting non-NFL outdoor football, so it will be interesting to see if the support will be there even with Stoops and Johnston involved.

I don't think Dallas is unique. Half the league (Dallas, DC, Los Angeles, New York) has the NHL, NBA, and major college basketball as early in-season competition. All the markets have at least one of the three. When we get into the second half, all eight cities have an MLB team and six have at least one MLS team. Market penetration is surely going to be a priority and a challenge for everyone.
