The XFL only works as a television product, which is why major TV markets should be prioritized (and were prioritized in 2020). Selling 20K tickets in Norfolk < selling 20K tickets in San Antonio < selling 20K tickets in Orlando < selling 20K tickets in New York.
Now, what if you can sell 50K tickets in Omaha and only 15K in Tampa? That's where you need to start doing the balancing act. But all other things being equal, you want the biggest markets you can penetrate. And if the XFL can't penetrate major markets, it's probably not going to succeed.

Not every college is going to say yes though.Rangersking669 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 8:58 pmMoney talks and if the XFL pays for the turf like what they did in Houston then I'd imagine they can get it doneGDAWG wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 7:37 pmThe University of Houston did a really good job of changing the playing surface of their field to allow the Roughnecks to put their logos and word markings in their stadium. Not all college stadiums are going to be open to doing that. We don't know if Old Dominion will be open to doing that.

That's assuming the league can't get 30,000 in norfolk(and also, the team is going to have a wider reach than just virginia, we've already seen plenty of people watch the league from out of market). If the NFL can get a team in Jacksonville to work then the XFL can set up a team in Virginia. I'm not saying it's my first choice but it's an intriguing optionTank55 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 10:34 pm The XFL only works as a television product, which is why major TV markets should be prioritized (and were prioritized in 2020). I kind of want to see the XFL go into metro areas of major markets. Example would be instead of Miami, it would be Fort Lauderdale at Inter Miami CF Stadium.Tank55 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 10:34 pm The XFL only works as a television product, which is why major TV markets should be prioritized (and were prioritized in 2020). So about that..Inter Miami doesn't even want to stay in that stadium long term. Don Garber and Beckham have both said they only want them in Ft Lauderdale for 2 years before they finally get a stadium deal done in Miami..which comes to the benefit of the XFL as they basically get gift wrapped an MLS stadium on a silver platterGDAWG wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 12:12 amI kind of want to see the XFL go into metro areas of major markets. It's probably going to be longer than two years for Miami due to COVID.Rangersking669 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 12:22 amSo about that..Inter Miami doesn't even want to stay in that stadium long term. The saga of how Miami got their new stadium is epic. They haven't even broken ground yet.Rangersking669 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 12:31 amWell of course but you get the idea lolGDAWG wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 12:31 amIt's probably going to be longer than two years for Miami due to COVID.Rangersking669 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 12:22 am

On the miami stadium they haven't even agreed to a plan yet. As for Fort Lauderdale obviously that stadium already exists and is completely doneGDAWG wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 12:35 amThe saga of how Miami got their new stadium is epic. They haven't even broken ground yet.

The prevailing feeling is that that will be Inter Miami's Stadium for at least 5 years, maybe longer.Rangersking669 wrote: ↑Sat Jan 16, 2021 12:36 amOn the miami stadium they haven't even agreed to a plan yet. As for Fort Lauderdale obviously that stadium already exists and is completely done
