Not to mention SD's new stadium will be on-campus (as is their basketball arena), and SDSU isn't likely to accommodate.
yeah, San Diego State acquired the land where the former Jack Murphy/Qualcomm Stadium used to be once the Chargers left.
That's right, it isn't on campus but it's essentially the same deal. I remember being at SDSU back in the early 2000s I didn't think there was any way possible to fit in anything more than a 40K stadium there, or at least anything bigger than the Bounce House at UCF.
Fact Mission Valley's more in the USD area (right up the hill), surprised they didn't file some sort of territorial claim unless they got some concessions like a non conf game every other or third year--they played in 2015, that might have been the only time.

The stadium is literally a parking lot across from the old qualcomm stadium lot and the xfl has already worked with other universities before like u of h
That's UH though, and it's not like we're talking NRG Stadium. Being that Aztec Stadium essentially replaces SDCCU Stadium as basically San Diego's stadium (the Padres might literally take the league reps hostage and throw them off the Coronado bridge if they even suggested using Petco Park for football) that gives SDSU more leverage.

Portland State actually chose to leave. The reason why was because of playoff games scheduling being unknown. Not because the MLS "kicked them out" except for the fact that Timbers games naturally had priority. The XFL can work around this as they only have to deal with the early regular season schedule, not unknown playoff dates. As for Oakland, the A's want to move out of there so if the XFL acts swiftly before they finally get a new stadium they can take the coliseum much like they took globe life park
the A's own half of the Coliseum and are trying to buy the other half and eventually turn the stadium into a park and residential area. They are going to tear down the Coliseum as soon as they acquire 100% of the stadium and move into their new one. So there's not a chance an XFL team ever plays at the Coliseum.
The rangers were considering doing that for a time too while keeping the facade of the stadium. Things can always change..
Sure, but the A's acquiring the Coliseum site seems more likely now that COVID may shut their stadium plans down.

Doubt it's worth it.
With all due respect: If you think the XFL can't wield it's ability to draw to convince sdsu to let them play their games there then you are basically saying you have no faith in the future of the league. That stadium is gonna sit empty for months and they have nothing to lose making money off XFL revenue if they arrange a deal

The A's want to acquire the stadium so that they can eventually get rid of it though. So if they own it, the XFL can swoop in and talk to the A's directly while bypassing the city

That may be an option, but the XFL will probably go with San Jose for the Bay Area, either San Jose State or Levi's Stadium. It doesn't have to be Oakland. Not sure if the XFL wants to give up 10% of gate receipts to the city of Berkeley to play at Cal.

Well if you're the XFL you'd have to renegotiate with Berkeley on that one for sure. As for San Jose..the SJSU stadium is undergoing renovations but they haven't even started construction on it yet and they have a notorious reputation for not completing projects. Levi's Stadium is just too big for any time in the near future. I'd rather they play at the Earthquakes Stadium. A lot of the Raiders fanbase is right there in Oakland so that's why I'd want a team actually in Oakland

The Earthquakes own their own stadium, they might be hesitant to host any football.
Levi's Stadium is smaller than the stadiums that New York and Seattle played in, so it's not impossible.

Seattle has more of a hardcore fanbase than San Jose has had historically and I'm not sure Oakland fans want to travel down to San Jose area for an XFL game. It'd be a tough ask to try and fill that out. I see no reason why the Earthquakes wouldn't want to make some money as long as the game schedule doesn't conflict with theirs..but hey maybe they aren't interested who's to say that's just speculation. As far as NY they need to get out of MetLife immediately and move to RedBull Arena that was the biggest mistake the XFL made

Not all football fans in the Bay Area are Raiders fans. There are plenty of 49ers fans who won't go to San Jose.
