Could the new owners sell off individual teams?

Land a television deal and sell off the teams. Add a few? They might be able to double or quadruple their investment rather quickly if they do. still hold onto some teams, the ownership of the league and XFL brand? is that even possible?

In theory... I suppose, but that might throw a wrench into the original business model (though with McMahon now effectively out of the picture, that business model may be out the window as well).

If they do get individual owners, it will probably be a more diverse ownership than the NFL.

If it happens, it should be years down the road for the ownership group to maximize its profits. Think about it: If they sold off the franchises within the next few months/year, how much are you realistically going to get for a team that has played half a season (and we don't even know if all the teams will return to their original cities)? Versus selling them three, four, five years down the road. We've seen how individual sports franchises appreciate over time in virtually every sport. I see no reason why it wouldn't be the same case here.

Now that players are so rich ....NOT rich enough for the NFL because that's all super billionaires now.....but rich enough to run an XFL team for sure. And perhaps Rock is somewhat better connected to those ex players looking for a Freedom Football League to start up but never will. Example: Russell Wilson and Ciara could easily be Dragons owners if they wanted. IF that's the direction they might go someday.

Russell Wilson is allowed (per NFL rules) to own minority stake in pro teams in other sports, but not any stake in any pro football teams in other leagues as long as he's playing. He could easily be minority owner of the Seattle Kraken, but not of the Dragons as long as he's still playing.

Well we did have the likes of Jerry Jones, John Elway and Arthur Blank owning Arena franchises while involved in the NFL....so that seemed not to be a problem.

Not sure I would want to purchase a team in a league where the league still owned its own teams.

If all the team are sold, then yes, everyone has an equal stake with equal voting power. But the league would really have a conflict of interest becauset of its own investments vs outside investors. I can see where dealings could really have a question mark over them, whether handling of players or even game outcomes. It'd have to be all league-owned or all separate or else the legal drama will begin.
