The first AAF refugee. I wonder if they're envisioning all eight teams having this role (maybe a spot for Catherine Raiche in Tampa?), or if they're making an exception to capture a high profile guy. For whatever it's worth, the Commanders were competent and it seemed like Johnston took the job seriously.

So Johnston is basically Stoop's assistant GM, right?

Yeah, I don't know. The XFL has been presenting the Head Coach as also the GM, so it seems like a Director of Player Personnel would report to the GM. But things are fluid, so maybe they've changed course. Or maybe they're making an exception for their highest profile coach who is also new to the pro game.

You'd think Stoops wouldn't need help recruiting. He was pretty good at that when he was at OU.

College recruiting and pro scouting are different animals, IMO. But we'll just have to see if this is unique to Dallas or if all teams are putting someone in this role.

This is a good move. Daryl Johnston is actually one of the more popular former Cowboys here, because he was the lead blocker for Emmitt Smith for a decade.

Great hire. Very smart by the league and Bob Stoops. Just another reason to fear Dallas if you are the 7 other teams in the league.

Looking forward to seeing Stoops and Moose put their roster together. The scary thing is this might be a preview of these two men staying in the Dallas, but working for The Cowboys down the road.

Especially with Team 9 right in your backyard. Huge advantage.

If XFL Dallas gets a good team president, then they'll be in really good shape.

That’s a great point. From a football standpoint. This tandem has a great advantage.

The other element to this is marketing. XFL Dallas already had a strong hook with Stoops. Now with Moose on board. It strengthens the teams chances to draw in Dallas football fans. The stadium is going to be retrofitted for football. So it won’t be that large. It will be in that 25k range. With nearby Houston and traveling Oklahoma fans. This team should have no issues filling up that stadium for 5 home games.
