Florio is a NFL snob. He's definitely not a Football fan. Florio never writes anything positive about the CFL or any of other pro leagues like ELF, LFA or the X-League. He ought to change the name of his site to "NFL Football Talk"

The PFT/NBC website. Home of USFL games is showering XFL with more love today...

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2 ... for-lions/

>> Darrius Shepherd’s work on special teams in the XFL has helped earn him another look in the NFL.

Shepherd was voted the league’s top special teams player and the XFL announced that he will be trying out for the Lions at their rookie minicamp.
~
While playing for the XFL’s BattleHawks, Shepherd averaged 24.8 yards per kickoff return. He also caught 48 passes for 519 yards and six touchdowns. <<

I hope he makes the Lions, or at least the PS.

Down boy,

As I said yesterday this is almost exclusively due to the MDS flap last year. Neither will be acknowledged to exist in August. Hell even one of Florio's pet causes, the fumble out of the endzone from game 40 was never mentioned (if so you'd have been all over it).

It's the post-draft doldrums. NFL teams are padding out their 90-man rosters, and with the XFL regular season wrapped up, there's naturally that pipeline waiting.

So it's not necessarily "major Love," it's filling a gap in the news cycle.

Florio is not going to stop until Tom Brady is QB for the Miami Dolphins, even after he's retired for 5 years.

>> The Arlington Renegades went 4-6 in the regular season. It was good enough for second place in their division, which was good enough for a playoff berth.

And then they were good enough in the postseason to win a pair of games and win the XFL championship.

Quarterback Luis Perez completed 26 of 36 passes for 298 yards and three touchdowns in the 35-26 victory.

D.C. quarterback Jordan Ta’amu, the XFL offensive player of the year, threw three interceptions for the Defenders.<<
