Rookie coaches at the halfway mark

Post by Tank55 »

Coaches with HC experience: Barlow, Haslett, Phillips, Stoops
Coaches without HC experience: Becht, Buckley, Ward, Woodson

Records
w/ experience: 15-5
w/o experience: 5-15

Head to head:
w/ experience: 12 wins
w/o experience: 2 wins (both by St Louis over Seattle and Arlington)

So, early returns aren't good. I think what's more concerning is not the wins and losses (these are all going to add up to .500 across the league) but more the dysfunction that seems to be surrounding San Antonio, Vegas, and Orlando.

On the other hand, the least experienced of all was Becht, and he's holding his own.

I wrote about this in my three up, three down column posted last night: https://xflboard.com/news/three-up-thre ... week-five/

One thing the All-Access shows us is how collected head coaches are on the sidelines. Woodson and Buckley in particular seem out of their depths when it comes to game management and just seeming in control. Certainly penalties are a problem for these teams, and that discipline is usually a reflection on the head coaches, rightly or wrongly.
