Not unless Red Bird wants to own an NFL team. If that happens, Red Bird won't pursue CFL at all. Because of their involvement with the XFL, they were not able to be in the running for the Denver Broncos and are not with the Washington Commanders. If the XFL doesn't last, they might want to pursue the Seattle Seahawks in a few years. Or even the New Orleans Saints.
Red Bird looks for cheap acquisitions. That is how they make their money. The price for owning a NFL team is going to hit 8 billion dollars either in an expansion fee or the next sale of a current NFL team, cash up front with no debt. Single person ownership, no corporate ownership. Last I looked Red Bird is a corporate entity. That rules them out. The NFL won't allow the Rock to front a team
They bought AC Milan for $1.3 billion, which is a lot for an elite European team. AC Milan is not a cheap acquisition.
That price ain't anywhere what the Denver Broncos went for at 4 times that. AC Milan ain't the sexy teams like Manchester United and Liverpool. Red Bird doesn't involve itself in the soccer teams day-to-day operations and they acquired a name franchise not a an elite team. Big difference.

AC Milan was a cheap acquisition?
In comparison to wanting a NFL team you have proposed, it was an inexpensive alternative

AC Milan isn't Liverpool or Man U, sure, but it's still a widely popular European team in one of the best leagues in the World in Italy's Serie A. People around the world know what AC Milan is as they do with Man U and Liverpool.

They're not looking for "cheap" acquisitions; they're looking for value. They think AC Milan was undervalued at $1.3B.

them adding AC Milan I don't think is just for money. It's also for the prestige because it's AC Milan. AC Milan is a global brand, and one of three teams in Italy's Serie A that can say that (with the other two being cross town rivals Inter Milan and also Juventus).

It's an investment firm. The prestige is the return generated.

Professional sports ownership used to be about prestige and vanity -- it used to be you owned a sports team because (or even to show that) you could park a bunch of money in a huge asset that didn't really pay off. And for some people it still is. For the Waltons, it probably was.

But things turned a corner, and people have realized that there's profit in buying and selling sports properties. RBC's thesis is that it can purchase underperforming (AC Milan) or high growth (XFL) properties and return an aggregated ROI that outpaces the general market.

Is there room in that for owning prestige or name value properties? Maybe a little. Maybe owning AC Milan means that when they buy a KBO team or whatever, it inherently bolsters the value in a way that it otherwise wouldn't. But that's a marginal benefit, at best. ROI is what's driving the bus.

The thing is that Red Bird doesn't interfere or make day-to-day operations of AC Milan, while it is heavily involved in league and team operations of XFL 3.0, just like Vince McMahon was.

They are wrong in their estimation. I think it is overvalued. it is probably valued the same as the top Mexican soccer club. Like I said it ain't Manchester United or Liverpool.

If RB wanted true value, why didn't they buy Chelsea when the British Gov't forced the Russian oligarch Abramovich out. Red Bird would've got a much more prestige team than AC Milan. Larry Tanenbaum made a bid and he's not a multi-billionaire. His was a joint bid

If FSG looking to sell Liverpool is any indicator, the growth potential isn't there anymore for the top EPL clubs.

there's also be a rash of sales of EPL teams lately or considering a sale. Granted, Chelsea was sold because it's previous owner was Russian, but still, it's been sold.
