My thought is, "too volatile."

I think it would turn a lot of us (myself included) away from the XFL to be honest.

It certainly wouldn't be enough to turn me off of the XFL product, but it would concern me for the long-term viability of the league given, as Mark said, the volatility of that market.

I was going to post that something like this will be coming, ie potential financial issues. The inability to swallow the lease at Allegiant was a sign something was up.

Next will be - "XFL and USFL" in talks.

That's coming next - Clearly RBC is not going to fund this for long haul I figured 1-2 years and than approach USFL after 2023 season.

Sorry - but these too leagues will Very Very similar goals and plans should not be wasting money on 2 separate efforts. They XFL hasn't had a season yet and this comes out?

I'd like to say I'm shocked but I'm not... at all.

Love the timing too AFTER their Townhall to avoid questions... not good Optics.

>> The trio have been funding the league and are committed to continuing to fund the XFL’s startup efforts, according to a person familiar with the search for new investors, who asked not to be named because the matter is private. The XFL and RedBird Capital had no comment; PJT Partners declined immediate comment. Part of PJT’s responsibilities with the XFL search is ensuring potential equity investors share the vision of the current ownership group on the development and commercialization of the XFL, according to the person familiar with the transaction.<<
If I remember right the recent athletic articles pointed towards 2024 being when they think talks between the two start. I do agree these leagues are way more similar than either want to admit and it’s shown in the fact xfl was going to do a hub until USFL got backlash. I do hope both can get the funding they need to get out of their Hubs
Fox does not want to "rush" its cost effective buisness model. The XFL seems to be spending LOTS of money.
Wasn't the USFL looking for $150-$200 million operating capital from "investors," too? Were they just going to not spend it and hide it under their mattress?

The problem is there are plenty of potential investors with money that was made from Crypto, and since the Crypto market has been slipping they may see the potential for moving their money and investing in something like the XFL... ... especially if the current owners-group puts the sales pitch on them, something they seem to be good at. i.e., The Disney deal.

I was also wondering if future investment might be related to expansion franchises. Could be a way for the league to expand without additional risk to the current owners.

Exactly. Not sure how this is different than what the USFL/FOX is doing. Neither company is running a charity and will want some return on their product. Fox would sell off all 8 USFL franchises and then some if there were interested parties, so don't see how this is any different. Seems like a nothing burger to me.

It is unless the new investors want to fund the league with NFTs and Crypto. I can't see the XFL going that route but if they do, it's not great for the long term future of the XFL.

Is there any reason to think they're seeking crypto partners? I'm not following why you're focused on that.

You are right, we are sidetracked on the possibility of investors who made they money through crypto.

That is the biggest fear that may come in needing investors: those types of people. Besides, Crypto is nothing more than stupidity. Same for NFT. I hope that the XFL is not involved in either one of those shams.
