SBJ: XFL returns to St. Louis Dome

Excerpt >> Like with its 2020 season, the XFL will pay $100,000 per game for its St. Louis franchise to play five regular season home games at The Dome at America’s Center, according to a license agreement the startup professional football league has with Explore St. Louis, the city's convention and visitor's commission, which operates The Dome. The license agreement between the XFL and Explore St. Louis, obtained by the Business Journal through a public records request, covers three seasons and runs through August 2025.
~
The agreement inked between the XFL and Explore St. Louis includes five regular season home games per year and the possibility of one playoff game each season. While the contract’s base rent figures are unchanged from 2020, the amount paid by the XFL will be more per game than was required of the St. Louis Rams, which paid $250,000 for all of its National Football League home games, plus half of game day expenses, in a year-to-year lease prior to relocating to Los Angeles in 2016.

In addition to paying rent, the XFL will be responsible for covering game day expenses, including staffing for the facility's maintenance and ticketing operations and public safety and security costs. Explore St. Louis will provide the XFL with turf installation, lighting for game setup, game-level lighting during football games, heating and cooling, and free public internet during games. <<

If attendance is as good as it was in 2020, this shouldn't be that much of a problem.

With these stadiums left holding the bag after the XFL bankruptcy, I'm sure they were not in any mood to give the new owners any discounts. Not only that, but St. Louis in particular probably had a lot of leverage, as it would've been a really bad look had the XFL come back and not included the best-drawing city in 2020 in its stable of cities.

Three year contract (or, covers three XFL seasons) -- same as in Arlington, correct?

I'd wager to guess this was the reason things were held up so long in regards to city announcements, venues, etc. XFL 2.0 left a lot of pissed off creditors making XFL 3.0 journey that much harder. Got to give The Rock, Danny, and RB credit for going through with this even with all the extra hurdles in place.
