I'm talking about all regular broadcast TV - big 4 networks. There's a reason sports programming is king (and Wrestling too). It'll flop faster than that show about AI, or Greg Olsen's soon-to-be-short-lived run as FOX's #1 analyst

Well the Rock will get attention for sure. I don't know if it means respect but agree it can lead to more coverage.MarkNelson wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 10:22 pm The most important thing to watch when these announcements happen is to see how much coverage the XFL gets in the mainstream media. When they pull out the stops and make a splash, does anyone care? This is what I am watching.

I never felt the XFL was that well promoted in 2020 though the 2 nets did advertise. But certainly playing in the cold of winter will have a much larger captured audience.

No announcement this morning, which has been the norm. Of course the Disney upfronts start later this afternoon. Watch Dany Garcia's socials.

It seems a little odd to me to announce a definitive start date and not having at least one city/stadium locked down. And if you have one...

Having The Rock on stage at the up-fronts probably got the deal more coverage than it otherwise would've received. Variety, the premier entertainment trade mag, had a story about it:MarkNelson wrote: ↑Mon May 16, 2022 10:22 pm The most important thing to watch when these announcements happen is to see how much coverage the XFL gets in the mainstream media. Naturally, ESPN and its high-profile personalities, like Adam Schefter, Tweeted about the deal as well. ESPN.com had it on the top stories section of the front page of its website into the evening. Curious to see what you thought of the coverage so far.

Greg, you’re right about that. Relatively speaking, there is a shit-ton more coverage than normal this morning, and it’s all positive, and it all features The Rock. I suspect the league will see this as a big win.

The coaches must know, at least geographically, if not specifically, where they will be coaching, so yea.
