Doug Whaley gets second interview for Steelers GM position

I'm still thinking he doesn't come away with the job, but it might be time for the league to think about a succession plan in case he does get it (if they haven't already thought about it)? Hopefully the XFL has someone in place who could step in to that position seamlessly.

Whaley worked under outgoing G.M. Kevin Colbert during his time in Pittsburgh, so he’d provide some continuity if he were to succeed Colbert at the top of the personnel department. <<

Its a pretty good chance he's gone and Pitt is one stable organization (unlike Cleveland lets say) so he'd be crazy not to want it.

I just hope the xfl is ready to hire a replacement because him leaving wouldn’t be a small issue especially if they don’t have someone lined up to take his place yet

He was also with the Steelers when Mike Tomlin was hired. There's no doubt he would accept if he was offered.

Omar Khan got a second interview as well. He's been working under Colbert for years and has been the presumptive successor. I think he ends up getting the job.

Whaley putting himself out there, getting two interviews, seems to be the purpose of all this. Of course, you don't get considered for a job unless you throw your hat in the ring.

I hope you’re right. The XFL doesn’t need a setback like losing Whaley.

Khan to get the job

Whaley probably gets a few things from the interviews to go forward in the league office
