When taken in its entirety, the 2.0 version was pretty much an overall success. Red Bird Capital and company, will be hard pressed to improve on the previous model and run the risk of actually diminishing the brand. Hopefully they will bear that in mind and not hyper focus on the USFL and instead, on thoughtfully and strategically striving to make a good product even better.
By changing the logo they are signaling a change. Most of the head coaches were available and they passed on them. Rumors are they are leaving the 2 biggest cities and using a central office to run many functions and central players/training for the year in Texas. XFL 2.0 had a 2 year launch window, XFL 3.0 has 1 yr.

As MM has stated XFL 3.0 is going to be way diff from XFL 2.0, perhaps less so than they originally thought. Even many of the HC hires are more splash than experienced. It's being run by a team that hasn't done this before and you can expect $$$ will be high.

Sticking with the winter was smart IMO - its got the best chance at ratings. But they did drop two mega TV markets for 2 smaller ones. Time will tell.

I think it's safe to assume NY was dropped by necessity, not by choice. If Metlife is charging a fortune to play there and the Red Bulls won't allow you access, there's really nowhere else to play. Princeton and Monmouth have glorified high school stadiums, and Rutgers is in the middle of nowhere and lacks public transportation. LA could be a venue issue as well, but also just the cost of doing business in California may not justify the ROI.

I think its safe to say they don't have time to or resources ($$/personnel) for NY/NJ esp with WC Ins. Its all very likely driven by NJ/CA cost to operate in these highly regulated expensive states. It could also be partially NFL driven if there is more to the partnership, who knows. BUT the downside is they are dropping from 22% (household Mkt share) to 12.4%. That's a big drop of 9.6%. Again AAF was 9.2% and city names for USFL is 16.1%. Regardless of the TV package it will impact ratings.
