Hasn't the UFPA already completely destroyed its credibility so far with its meddling of the CFL situation?
It's been over a year and we haven't heard a single player come forward saying they haven't been paid. Compare that to the laundry list of complaints in the wake of the AAF, UFL, and even Poop Johnson's comments on TSL last year.
Considering the extraordinary circumstances that cut off the source of revenue, the XFL players were lucky to get anything at all for the five weeks of lockdown. And if they want to complain, their state unemployment office is where they should have gone just like everyone else who had been laid off.

If I recall correctly AAF players got paid thru week 8 which is what they played through. UFL did stiff players for games played. TSL 2020 issues were paltry in comparison. XFL players and others were paid for a full season... yet played 5 games, so they misssed out on win bonuses. Many people lost their jobs too last yr. CFL players will get short pay for a short season. Canada is way more risk adverse than USA and even they are opening up. Time to move forward....johnnyangryfuzzball wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 8:23 am Hasn't the UFPA already completely destroyed its credibility so far with its meddling of the CFL situation?

Yes. Honestly, it's really embarrassing, lazy work from The Athletic and Kaplan.johnnyangryfuzzball wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 8:23 am Hasn't the UFPA already completely destroyed its credibility so far with its meddling of the CFL situation?

The Athletic has its own issues with finances and funding. It's never turned a profit. Axios turned down a merger acquisition. Now it's trying to get The New York Times to bail it out.Tank55 wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 5:48 pmYes. It's kind of hard to feel badly for the XFL players for not getting paid for games not played! I was employed by a major university's school of medicine on a Friday and laid off unexpectedly the next Monday due to the pandemic, so no tears here.
A whole lot of people in the country experienced financial and personal hardship, not just players.

Here's the original statement.

I guess this went out the door with the bankruptcy, but note a) that it explicitly says "base pay", and b) that it says "regular season". The quotes in the Athletic article refer to seven more weeks, which would have included the playoffs.Currently, the XFL will not be playing its regular-season games. However, all players will be paid their base pay and benefits for the 2020 regular season. All XFL ticket holders will be issued refunds or credit toward future games. The XFL is committed to playing a full season in 2021 and future years.
