One (Madani and others) could ask the same of the CFL right now when you have half their people who would prefer not to play. Why are they even in this spot?
Territorialism/tribalism (which we've unfortunately seen here the last few weeks) on steroids...............

I don't think that's a fair assessment at all, CFL, while not playing last yr did not shutdown or file bankruptcy. They cancelled their season based on covid and government restrictions and unlike the XFL have kept their operations intact. They are preparing for a season, the only limiting factor is out of their control... ie the Canadian government's position of live attendance.MGB01 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 10, 2021 11:56 am One (Madani and others) could ask the same of the CFL right now when you have half their people who would prefer not to play. The XFL is completely a non-operating league with a mini-skeleton staff with no plans activity towards returning to the field.
Totally different.

Different situations (see below) but same place, can you really say they're preparing full-on for a 2021 season when half the higher-ups don't want it and we're still getting 'on edge' reports?
Furthermore part of the reason for the XFL shutdown in the first place were the same restrictions, the bankruptcy was all long-term outlook and if the CFL is still that dependent on live crowds then who's to say their situation is that much different?

Plenty of mouthpieces making a point right now, some are accurate, and some are devilish. Madani makes a few good points, but he has an axe to grind and is trying to stir the pot, and that is an evil motive.
Meanwhile, Dave Naylor is trying to be realistic and pragmatic in claiming the CFL and XFL joining is a business move that might make sense. I say "might" as we don't know any details.
... and that brings up the biggest fact... We do not know any details.
Speculation can be fun though.

Hmmm cant' agree on that. The XFL bankruptcy was VM over reacting due to fear porn and protecting his empire. Clearly he thought it was excessive which was why as he sobered up to the fear and looked at repurchasing.MGB01 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 10, 2021 1:46 pm4th&long wrote: ↑Sat Apr 10, 2021 1:25 pmI don't think that's a fair assessment at all, CFL, while not playing last yr did not shutdown or file bankruptcy. IF you mean they may BOTH not play in 2021 - yes - but CFL is a operating league. XFL is not. That's a fact.
I do hope they play. And there is no doubt in my mind that the CFL leadership wants the fans to know... They want to play and blame should be on the government / virus not them. Yes that's a PR move, but its smart IMO.

Evil motive - that's a bit over the top. I don't agree with him on Spring FB working, but his XFL comments are facts.MarkNelson wrote: ↑Sat Apr 10, 2021 1:59 pm Plenty of mouthpieces making a point right now, some are accurate, and some are devilish. However you are correct we have few details about the "talks" at this point.

It's a distinction without a difference. When the CFL opens training camp, they can say that they've outperformed the XFL in the COVID world. Here's hoping it happens soon.

Its a distinction with a huge difference. There is nothing to merge from the XFL's side. The CFL is not interested in outperforming the XFL they are interested in having a season so they can make some revenue.

Right, to offset the overhead they're still carrying that the XFL's not.

Nothing about this in the local media. It’s all the rage up north.
Fan of the XFL from the beginning. You may remember me from the original XFLboard.
