XFL Tampa Bay Head Coaching Candidates

Post by MikeMitchell »

*BLACK MONDAY UPDATE 1/13*

Getting local interest from this market will not be easy. It's a fair weather place in more ways than one. Having the right head coach will go a long way towards gaining interest. Florida is a football hotbed and you can't have a pro football league without Florida and Texas represented. With football taking place in February and March, the location of Florida itself is also a plus for the league. Any territorial style allocation will help benefit this teams chances of winning. Unlike the two teams in Texas, Tampa will have full reign of Florida players in a territorial draft scenario.

Here are some realistic candidates that I believe would fit this market.

Rob Chudzinski-Former Browns Head Coach/NFL Offensive Coordinator - Chudzinski last coached with The Colts in 2017 as offensive coordinator. At one point, was considered a rising star in football circles. Played college ball and coached at The University of Miami.

Shawn Jefferson- Miami Dolphins WR/Assistant Head Coach 49 year old Florida native. Played for 4 NFL teams, amassing 470 career receptions and has coached for 3 others. The kind of assistant that is not on any NFL head coaching radars.

Chris Weinke- Tennessee Volunteers RB Coach- The former Heisman Trophy winner has had a unique journey in his sports career. Drafted by The Toronto Blue Jays to play baseball. He ended up going to college football winning a national championship at Florida State. After a 7 year career as mostly a backup in The NFL. Weinke went on to become the head trainer and coach at IMG Academy in Florida. He spent 5 years there. Spent 2 years as QB coach with The Rams, then coached at Alabama for a year before making his way to Tennessee as an assistant. This is an outside the box hire.

Shaun King- USF RB's Coach- Former Bucs starting Quarterback. Only 41 years old, born and raised in Florida. He's been coaching QB's and RB's since 2016 at USF, who also plays at Raymond James Stadium. This is another outside the box hire but it lends itself to the new wave of former QB's becoming head coaches.
