"And what of the CFL’s quirky rulebook? Sources say there is more appetite among governors for change than most diehard three-down fans might hope. One source said four-down football, with opponents less than a foot apart on the line of scrimmage had been debated by the CFL’s 10-member innovation committee before the XFL’s interest was widely known."

I, for one, enjoy the Canadian game. However, the whole world plays 4 down football, especially in places the CFL has implemented its costly 2.0 initiative. The CFL was headed for a change, Covid and now the XFL, may be just what they needed to reinvent themselves.
>> As the due diligence phase begins in earnest, the CFL needs to know if American networks want to pay for every game played by a merged CFL/XFL, or spend only on a package featuring large market teams like Toronto and Los Angeles. And in both cases, what’s that worth? How much could a merged CFL/XFL demand from streaming platforms?

What kind of impact could Johnson have on revenue generation as a highly popular and visible league owner? How much will Johnson, RedBird and Garcia pay to access the established football infrastructure offered by the CFL, given there is no XFL comparable? What is the doubling of scale worth to the XFL, if they add nine actual teams to the eight theoretical franchises in their stable? How serious is the XFL about establishing a global footprint and how highly do they value the work already done on that file by the CFL? <<

As I stated in multiple threads - The Canadian press isnt going to be giving DG-RBC-Rk a free pass and is going to ask tough questions, this will intensify. After the XFL passed on 2021, these should have been asked by the American press, instead we get radio silence for almost 6 months with no questions asked. Good - go for it Canadian Press, everyone wants to know what these people truly intend.
