CFL fans should brace themselves for change

Interesting article here. Seems like not every CFL team is committed to playing a condensed 2021 season and will only take losing money for so long. The CFL needs this partnership as much, if not more, than the XFL. CXFL game of the week on Amazon Prime, Yes Network, TNT? There are many interesting possibilities on how this could all play out.

If the XFL gets CFL to become 4 down FB... you can bet the ultimate goal is to merge the larger city CFL teams into the NFL.... talk about a coup and major Windfall...

Of course that's not what XFL or CFL fans want

Hamilton Ti-Cats owner, Bob Young looks to be on board as well. The big 3 markets already prefer 4 down football, Saskatchewan and Hamilton are tentatively giving 2 thumbs up, not bad at all in just 48 hours.

If 3 down FB goes bye bye - the big 3 markets will look to join the NFL who will make a fortune selling team rights to those 3 large cities - $1.5 - 4 Billion range each.

Though I think you are reading too much into these links

CFL will then cease to exists

I don't think the current CFL owners nor players really care about the history of the CFL, they're in it for the money, which as of now isn't there. Not sure the NFL would look to expand as they already get a good tv deal in Canada without any of the costs of operation. Redbird buys the CFL but keeps the stats and legacy of the teams and changes the game to hybrid style 4 down football. The XFL/Redbird is really in the driver's seat at this pont

CFL fans don't want their league to become NFL Canada, which is what their league would be if it became 4 downs.

They may not have a choice. As CFL analyst Rod Peterson said, if the CFL were being supported in its big 3 cities they wouldn't be in these talks. Minor league hockey is big in Canada, the Toronto Marlies sell out even though they share a market with the most popular hockey team in the world. There's a higher ceiling for secondary 4 down football in Canada than there is for"major league" 3 down football. Perhaps not 30 years ago, but certainly now.

Again the windfall here is to 86 the CFL and move to the NFL. That may be the real goal.

Because if 3down FB goes no reason not to go to NFL

Windfall for who? You think current CFL owners think they're going to end up as NFL owners?
