Well it's news...sort of.
Per Josh Gerben (@JoshGerben) on Twitter:
"The XFL, now under ownership of
@TheRock, has filed a new trademark application for HE HATE ME.
The filing was made on February 10th and indicates the XFL plans to launch a clothing brand under the name."
I thought Rod Smart had filed for the trademark some time ago...perhaps he never got it? Either way, hope he gets his beak wet on this one. This shows the different and creative revenue streams the new owners are looking at.
(Let me save some of you some time and effort: "they're trademarking clothing and we don't even have teams/ coaches/a commissioner/a TV deal announced yet! What a waste!")

You forgot "this is from XFL 1.0, 20 years ago!" - and I don't think this qualifies as creative.GregParks wrote: ↑Tue Feb 16, 2021 2:32 pm Well it's news...sort of.

UPDATE: Oh and - "no more 'he-hate-me' in XFL 2.0, this is NOT a gimmick league" .... Guess its is?
granted this is just a trademark name but ...

Re: XFL files trademark for "He Hate Me" clothing line
He Hate Me has been trademarked since 2001, renewed in 2017, and now again. I bet it’s just to sell some merch, something the new owners seem to be in tune with.
“He Hate Me” shirts, hats, cell phone covers, shot glasses and maybe even the tequila. Everything is on the table.
This “news” is a nothing burger.

I like it. I think this new XFL will be a bit more out of the box than 2.0 without being as wacky and gimmicky as 1.0. At the end of the day, selling the populace on non-NFL football is always a tough sell. I'm all about the creativity and injecting some entertainment into the product.

HHM clothing line
For some reason this reminds me of Vince and the "NWO clothing line" during RAW is ECW from the Manhattan Center 24 years ago this month.
It'll be a tough sell trying to remake something relevant that was last this big thing when HHM went to the Super Bowl with the Panthers. But if Rock can do some Baller-themed swag with the HHM tag (OK I'm out), why not tap a potential stream? And HHM
definitely wasn't the problem with XFL1.0 or this "affront to football", if he was then he isn't carving out a successful five-year run in the NFL afterward.
Paying homage to the legend of sorts.

Re: XFL files trademark for "He Hate Me" clothing line
Today, I spoke to a reliable league source and was told this is nothing more than extending the "He Hate Me" trademark, to protect it. Currently, the league has no plans to drop a new line of merchandise featuring the trademark.

Thanks for digging on this, Mark. Would hope that someone who founded a trademark law firm would be a little more accurate about trademark info they Tweet out.MarkNelson wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 11:54 am Today, I spoke to a reliable league source and was told this is nothing more than extending the "He Hate Me" trademark, to protect it. The way the world is right now I don't think I'd buy something with HATE on it. The mass commercialization of the word HATE to put that word in front of us in our daily lives isn't necessary to begin with.
However that guy that just won NASCAR Daytona 500 has the word LOVE plastered all over television screens!! We need more LOVE, less HATE!!
That being said. Have players real names on the Jersey.
Just my opinion Dwayne.

I agree, but I’ll never underestimate what the new owners have planned. Could be surprises.Regular Joe wrote: ↑Wed Feb 17, 2021 8:31 pm
