An interesting article on the FCF - Fan Controlled Football League

The upcoming Fan Controlled Football (FCF) league has unveiled further plans for its inaugural season in 2021, which includes becoming the first professional sports league to be fully integrated with the Twitch streaming platform.

FCF, which enables fans to call plays in real-time, kicks off in February 2021 and features four teams competing over a six-week schedule, and will be shown exclusively live on Amazon-owned Twitch as part of a multi-year agreement.

The number of different platforms available to show games has certainly made it easier to enter the marketplace, even on a smaller level in terms of number of teams, games played, etc. Keep # of teams and games (and probably players) down, costs stay down.

FCF is not my cup of tea, but I love that they have the balls to at least following through on their gimmicks. Check out the finalists for the team names:

And the fewer teams and games you play, the more talent you can pack onto each team.

But in essence, like Brian Woods and The Spring League, this isn't the first go-round for Sohrob Farudi: this is a successor project to Project FANchise, which briefly owned a team in the Indoor Football League.

I'm reading into it, and to be completely honest, I'm surprised that this isn't tied in any way to the founders of Your Call Football, which operated on the same premise and claims patents on the technology.

Who the hell are Menery and May and why do they deserve to own a team?

LOL! I'll probably check out a game now. Still no real interest in watching fans call plays. Hope Manziel is in a good place.

Looks like a real-life indoor version of Madden, which is fine as long as it doesn't try to go beyond what it is.

Which was the problem (among many dumbs they made in the 2010s, they're lucky the AFL, and now the NAL, had/has them completely boatraced in that department) in the IFL, especially with one of the Fanchises adopting the name of a former AFL team. Unsurprisingly, both were subsidized by the league.

Besides Manziel, two other QB's have signed with the FCF: Jackson Erdmann from the Blues of the Spring League and Hampton QB Deondre Francois.
