If only. Fact of the matter is Eags have been so gashed on D by transfers and injuries that NDSU can run for 300 yards if they want. The kid from Idaho did nearly that two weeks ago and it wasn't over until he for some reason threw the ball on 4th and 1.

So unless they make Miller/Noland throw the ball this could get 2017 ugly

Game day! I'll be reporting live from the Prison Capital of Texas for the Monmouth-Sam Houston game.

Have fun. I certainly did in every FCS/1-AA playoff game I ever went to, even Eastern's massive gag against Sam Houston in 2004.

And if I'm looking at these brackets right, if North Dakota State is to make it back to Frisco, they'll have to make it through Eastern, Sam Houston, and James Madison--every team they beat during their championship run (and Eastern and JMU were the two teams that kept them out in the last 10 years). Talk about earning it.

Impressed with Monmouth, especially on defense; definitely not overmatched. Turned the ball over in the red zone though and just doesn't quite have the offensive execution yet to really make Sam Houston uncomfortable.

14-0 at halftime. Monmouth needs to come up with something offensively. Their defense is good enough to make this a game if they get some help. Still within reach, but no more room for error.

I'm rooting for Sam Houston, but would prefer a competitive game.

Other random observations:

- There are high schools in Texas with comparable stadiums to this one
- Sam Houston student section and the Monmouth parents got into it to the point police had to intervene
- best seats in the house are probably outside the stadium, where a bunch of savvy people are sitting on a hill under shade in the what I think is the northwest corner.

SO much for a competitive game!

Now I'm mostly focused on the battle between the SHSU students and the Monmouth parents. Things could get chippy.

Meanwhile, my wife is locked in on the sunburn this obese Monmouth fan in front of us is getting.
