More from Dany about the XFL, being the first woman to own major sports league, 24/7 365 XFL and marketing the league to women.

Good to see the XFL continue to get press through Garcia and Johnson, though for us diehards, we'd probably prefer more of the focus and detail to be on the league itself and what's coming down the pike. Even so, to reach a broader audience, the human interest story is going to play better to the masses at this point than a story about the nuts and bolts of XFL 3.0.

All that PC stuff won't make the league a success or not. It sounds like she's adapting the XFL to what she knows... ie entertainment vs learning how to run a FB league.

The league was a success in 5 games beyond expectations. How about replicating it and its success?

I hope this is just PR fluff to get some articles and maintain some awareness while they focus on real work.

I agree with Greg and 4th in thinking this is mostly an attempt to garner broad acceptance of the ownership and plant the seed for more fans. I recall that Vince did much the same in 2018, when he announced XFL 2020 with big ideas, a very loose framework, and relatively little details. It took two years for the details to trickle in.

The late great Tom Petty said it best, “The waiting is the hardest part.”

Also, interestingly, this interview took place about two weeks ago, as was shown in an Instagram teaser Danny posted when she was actually being interviewed by SI.

I just hope that it does not become so player-centric that the fans get left in the weeds. Ultimately, the fans will spell success or failure for the League; we buy the merch, we put rear ends in the seats, we watch games we cannot attend on TV, and we talk up the League. Fans, first and foremost!

Customer (fan) always comes first. The fans could careless about this player expression stuff, it can only be a negative. Everyone expects the players to be treated well and with respect - of course....
But beyond that "its for the Love Football" and that's the only reason people will watch a sub-NFL league. So make the FB good, have fun and do it right.

Letting the players stand, kneel, or play hopscotch before kickoff has no effect on me nor many people for that matter. NFL ratings are down marginally but still being watched by 20+ million each and every week. The majority of players are in favor of expressing themselves so let them be. It's not hurting anyone at the end of the day.

The networks aren't showing it and have done like they did before, ignore it and it went away. If they stick it in your face the XFL will alienate a large number of fans. Its best to be kept away from the fan experience...i.e. off tv off the field. Its drying up fast anyway-IMO. If they focus on the FB 1st, 2nd, 3rd....it can work. Are they serious about making it happen ? Jury still out on that one...

I agree that it doesn't hurt anyone but it certainly offends and annoys many. I watch football for the same reason we go to the movies, a former of escapism that let's us forget about the daily grind that sometimes is life. I truly enjoy the athleticism, the competition, the ability to root for our favorite team, and the social interaction of being out with friends for a game. I personally, don't want the things I'm trying to temporarily forget about to be stuck in my face during my "happy time."
