How could XFL comeback from Bankruptcy?

B) A billionaire like Tom Dundon?
C) VM himself
D) a mix of the above

Here's the irony - Tom Dundon closed the AAF mainly cause he didn't want to compete for players with better Funded XFL, so he needed NFL practice squad guys to ensure he had access to the best players and at discounted cost.
He funded a league with much lower TV ratings and attendance than the XFL. He probably was thankful that he gave up being how successful the XFL was. But then China covered up a botched virus (leak?) spread and - poof there goes the XFL. And its ready for purchase, but those TV deals are likely lost in bankruptcy(?).

Fox (Or Disney)... Fox is flush with cash, due to asset sales to disney, and has a Sports orient (and reality tv) focus. Could they buy the league? They could get backing from others to spread the risk IF the league had a TV contract. The may also be able to convince OL with ownership etc..

Could VM buy the assets of the League directly and form a deal with Fox or Disney? Is there a way to relaunch buried in the shell company? WWE stock bottomed out the 1st wek of April in the height of hysteria. Again did VM make a rash decision only to regret it later? WWE on the bend.

The bankruptcy has a key date on 7/24 ( I believe ), alot about where we go with this virus will be known by then. Pray & hope for best.


Just idol chatter but after the XFL ratings and AAF's to a lessor extent, someone or entity is going to do it again - especially with a real TV contract.

The world saw spring football works. Vince will go after the money again after this is over because if he doesn't, somebody else will.

Besides, it's a turnkey operation now.

The rumors of Fox and Disney buying WWE is false, to a certain degree. ESPN has expressed interest in WWE PPV rights as does Fox, but not the company as a whole.

Most of it will depend on if sports attendance recovers to pre-virus levels, without any complications or outbreaks. The BattleHawks were going to likely have 40,000+ at the Wildcats game—you could never get that many people in one place today. We won't have those answers by the time of the auction, since there likely won't be any sports with fans in the stands by then.

The NFL is probably the only sports organization that is going to be able to answer whether or not we can come back from this. If numbers keep falling, the virus should be well out of the way by the time they kick off for the regular season. Then, we'll know two things:

1. After a long, incredibly boring summer and months of social isolation, will the American public a) jump at the chance at being in a crowd after so long without the opportunity and end up with some of the most raucous crowds this country has ever seen, or b) be so scarred by the experience and scared of a second wave that they continue staying home?

2. Will the virus have been wiped out enough to forestall any "second wave?" That is what happened with SARS, which skipped the 2003-04 winter and briefly popped back up in 2004-05 before being squashed for good. The seasonal variation with this virus has been weak, given it spreads far better indoors than outdoors, and it hit most of the world at once, so unlike the Spanish flu (where the deadly second wave came with American soldiers returning from filthy conditions in Europe), there isn't a clear-cut, widespread wave that could reintroduce the virus all at once.

That uncertainty is going to make a return for 2021 difficult—and, as noted before, 2022 is an Olympic year. If the XFL survives this, it won't be easy. The next viable window isn't until 2023.
