With Alex Smith still out and Dwayne Haskins benched, Washington turned to BattleHawks backup QB Taylor Heinicke. He went 12-19 for 137 yards and a TD.

WOW/WHOA... I was watching the other games ... Haskins must have really stunk it up. Heinicke stats weren't that bad.

And the shoe drops, Haskins is dumped by WFT, meaning Heinicke will be active--and possibly starting with Smith still not 100%--for unbelievably a win and in game Sunday night in Philly. On the ten year (plus a day) anniversary of Charlie Whitehurst, why not?

Seems between this, Josh Reynolds doing the PJ give-up, and John Wolford possibly starting in a must win those "failed" alt leagues are all over the place this week (not to mention Younghoe Koo and Jack Fox stealing Jason Myers and Michael Dickson's Pro Bowl spots😡)

Was that the Charlie W and 7-9 seahawks win vs Saints? GOLD!

Koo would have been hero if kicked tie v KC

Charlie was there for the win and in game vs the Rams (beginning a pattern of the Hawks clinching at home vs the Rams and not allowing a TD), Hasselbeck was back for the Saints game/Beastquake.

Have absolutely no idea why Morris, with two timeouts left, didn't run the ball once in the redzone with Hill breaking some good runs on the last two drives. Hill and Gurley were both sorely underused.

LB Christian Kuntz and CB Josh Hawkins are back on practice squads: Kuntz with the Steelers again, and Hawkins with the Lions.

This actually happened,

John Wolford was a four-year starter at Wake Forest, minus a couple games in 2015 where he was injured. His replacement? Kendall Hinton, the break-glass-emergency starter in Denver earlier this year.

Not quite Phillip Nelson starting over Gardner Minshew at ECU in 2016, but still an "oh yeah.............." of note.

This is also happening:

We joked about Nantz and Romo doing an AAF game on CBS, they're set for LA Sunday, Wolford vs (possibly) Streveler. They've also done games with the other top two AAF QBs (Garrett Gilbert, Cowboys/Steelers; Logan Woodside fake punt, Titans/Ravens)

This in addition to the other possibility of Taylor Heinicke starting SNF vs PHI, with Al Michaels (who mentioned the Rock acquiring the XFL back in the opener) on the call.

And FTW adds Steven Montez to the 53 while Alex Smith is officially questionable

So while nine months ago all the buzz was PJW and JT right now Jordan's backup is the it guy.

(Special mention to Wolford. I've never heard Neuweasel so excited, at least since he was campaigning for the Notre Dame and Florida jobs in 2002, as when he got to talk about him during the Arizona Bowl yesterday)
