It's a little scary, but the good news is that Seattle's health department thinks it's unlikely he spread the disease to anyone else. The bad news is that it could adversely affect the Dragons' attendance for the rest of the season.
The XFL is about to get a whole lot of attention!

This is not what the XFL needs either for attendance numbers or publicity wise.

In all honesty this is a CenturyLink Stadium issue impacting the XFL or any tenant (Sounders game up next). I wonder if anyone the vendor interacts with on a known basis is also diagnosed - personal, co-woorkers, etc... Also its been 2 weeks since the game, was he infected at that time or after? Its not clear from the reporting.

>> The Sounders said in a statement that the affected part-time stadium employee did not work any of the team's events.

"At this time, there has been no recommendation from Public Health -- Seattle & King County to adjust scheduling for sporting events, as is the case with Seattle Public Schools and other community institutions," the Sounders said. "As this situation remains fluid, the club is in real-time communication with key community stakeholders, and we will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available." <<

This is a logical response but I fear it’s much deeper than the average Joe would think.

More on CenturyLink Stadium vendor

Post by 4th&long »

Sounders to play Saturday and more on vendor condition...

https://www.inquisitr.com/5927742/stadi ... ay-anyway/

>> The worker showed no symptoms during the game, and has not returned to the stadium since that date, according to The Seattle Times report.

“We’ve determined that the risk of infection to attendees from this person was low,” King County public health department spokesperson James Apa told The Seattle Times.

The Sounders, in announcing that Saturday’s match would be played as scheduled, said that “expanded sanitation procedures” would be in effect for the game, and additional hand sanitizer stations would be in place for the match. A club spokesperson said that postponing the game was considered, but the option of playing the match in front of an empty stadium was not on the table, according to the SB Nation report.<<

>> All 11 deaths in Washington have occurred in King County, where Seattle is located, according to a KIRO TV News report. Eight of the coronavirus deaths have been linked to a single elder care facility, Life Care Center. <<

Good point. They probably don't know when he contracted the virus, or whether the game itself had anything to do with it. It might behoove them to investigate what else the worker was doing and where (i.e. had he spent any time in airports, senior care centers or other areas of concern).

According to CenturyLink Field officials, the employee did not show any symptoms at the time and has not stepped inside the facility since.

To ensure the environment remains safe for guests and staff, the stadium has implemented "heightened sanitation procedures and processes," including disinfecting all areas of the stadium before and after every event and adding hand sanitizer stations as well as educating staff.

“The health and safety of the extended XFL family – especially our fans in Seattle – is of the utmost importance,” XFL President Jeffrey Pollack told FOX Business in an emailed statement Friday. ”We share everyone’s concern about this public health issue and understand it is evolving on a daily basis.”

The Seattle Sounders, who have a match scheduled for Saturday, said in a statement that the game at CenturyLink Field will go ahead as planned. <<

They should likely do the heightened sanitation steps anywhere there is concern - aka LA. A- to prevent it, B- to provide assurance to fans

Which is really all you can do. RAW was in Everett (granted next county up--Snohomish, but obviously nothing went wrong on the way up from NXT: Portland) five nights before that and no incident.

One way we all can fight this virus is for us all to start acting like germaphobes. My wife is a Nurse Practitioner here in the Chicagoland area. The first case of it in Illinois was admitted to her old hospital in Hoffman Estates. So, knowing the risks of her job, we are constantly washing our hands and disinfecting especially since we have a 2-year-old.

Now, the good news about the virus as previously mentioned, is that the mortality rate for people under the age of 50, including children, isn’t much higher than influenza. And though we don’t know for certain about this particular Coronavirus, all the other types of Coronaviruses (like 6) react negatively to warmer weather.

So, let’s hope as the weather warms up, this virus slows down, and we as a people can carry on business as usual. Including attending sporting events without any cancellations.
