XFL start to season TV sch

Post by 4th&long »

Would it make sense for the XFL to play both Saturday and Sunday games in Week1 & 2 at the same time and if one game was bad they could switch to the other one?

XFL has a great TV contract but it would reduce the risk of a bad game on national TV. I don't necessary think they should, they lose exposure, but it reduces risk.

AAF did that in their opening game on CBS.

I agree - but it would allow XFL to cut from a crappy game to a good game

Don’t like this idea. If I’m a fan of team “....”, I don’t want to miss a second. What if a major come back? (You can score 9pts per possession).

I love Red Zone. Having a B game definitely makes for a more consistent product. It also doubles the cost of production. I'd love it as a consumer. As someone emotionally invested in the league's survival, I don't think it would be wise.

This is for a 16 team league, not for eight--NBC did it during its first year of the AFL (the only one which was eight) but then again often all four games were on Sunday, most of the games not on Sunday weren't televised

A key part of the XFL experience for me is being able to actually follow all 8 teams closely. Unlike the NFL, you can really dig in to each team’s story and players because there are so few teams. I love being about to watch all four games. Wouldn’t want them to overlap.

I like the ability to watch all the games. There is no such thing as watching a bad game in the XFL IMHO. During the Defenders blowout of my team, still great to watch with all the drama between the coach and QB.
