Team Nine officially announced, roster set

Lots of detail in this article, including the roster at the bottom. Team rosters will expand to 57 halfway through the year, which explains a previous article that mentioned all 40 team nine players will be on rosters by then. I’m not real hot about the idea of bloating rosters like that, but it gives players incentive to join Team Nine at the outset, otherwise they could end up practicing all year never to get promoted to an active roster.

For those who were curious about the uniform, the photo attached to the story reveals it: XFL colors, navy blue jerseys with white numbers and red trim. Bart Andrus is wearing the generic XFL logo on his hat.

Pretty cool!

Kinda neat they have 40 9ers! Looks like some pretty decent Qb’s on that list.

League is killing it this time around!

Go Cats!!!!

It’s an interesting setup.

If you look at it. The league’s teams cut 144 players at the end of camp.

40 of those players return to the rosters by mid season. That means that 40 new players replace them on team nine.

So at the bare minimum, 80 players stay or work their way back into the league.

The number of players by seasons end that spend time on Team Nine could be over a hundred players.

So a good number of the 144 players that were cut, stay under contract and still have a realistic chance to get on active rosters. Injuries will dictate that.

Team Nine is also a gateway for new players to make their way into the league but it’s mostly geared towards players who were already on XFL rosters in camp.
INSEASON RULES

For the first two weeks of the season, XFL teams are encouraged to pull from Team 9 to fill an open spot, but it’s not required. The Tampa Bay Vipers, for example, might be more comfortable signing a receiver cut in training camp who’s not on Team 9, and the league understands that perspective.

After Week 2, it’ll be a league requirement to utilize Team 9 players to plug an open roster spot. All XFL teams should be familiar with Team 9 players by then.

It’s like team 9 has an unofficial group of practice squad players for every team.

It looks like every XFL team has 5 players each on the team. Dragons and Roughnecks are only carrying two active quarterbacks but they have quarterbacks on team nine ready to be called up like Callahan and McDade.
