They're not doing it for the publicity. It's only public because Johnson tweeted about it.

I don't see them moving to capitalize on it.
Johnson's Twitter suggests he's not in Houston. I suspect this isn't happening.

They don't have to, they are benefiting from it. Any thing that puts them in the news is good. As they aren't getting enough national attention. At least Fox had i think 2 ads during the NFC championship and some during CBK it sounds like.

Johnson did not attend the tryout. No reason was given.

Interestingly, sounds like it was a wide-ranging kicker tryout, not one specifically for Johnson. In the above article, it was noted that Garrett Hartley, former kicker of the Saints, was one of the players from the tryout to be signed by the league.

Too bad -- at least from the perspective of my own curiosity. I would have been very interested to hear how he fared. NBD from the XFL's POV.

Diva move by Ocho No Show. This isn’t a charity league for over the hill players.

I'd be tempted (although this really sounds like a 2001 XFL move, that and Moss will have no part of it) for the Cats to cover up the T on Jack Tocho's nameplate.
Then again, don't need it. Just another former all-pro receiver who says he's all good in his second life and clearly isn't (Ocho, Me-O, AB--although one could argue he wasn't even right in his first).

- Who cares, he got the league attention they sorely need. Win for XFL!
