Draft dates?

October 14, 15
Kalias Robertson, who was invited to the XFL Draft pool, was asked the date of the draft and replied with October 14th and 15th. I highly doubt he pulled those dates out of nowhere, and it fits with the current XFL timeline.

If this is true, the XFL has got some work to do with signing tier one players over the next couple weeks.

It looks like a solid lead on the dates. Thanks for this news. Just a couple more weeks to wait... and then teams will have training camp rosters.
Fan of the XFL from the beginning. You may remember me from the original XFLboard.

XFL Draft to be held on 15-16 October

In preparation for the draft, the XFL is sending detailed information to players, including a declared date of 15-16 October.

The XFL also indicates that each of their eight XFL teams will draft its preseason 70-man roster during the two day process that will be centrally managed out of the League Office in Stamford, CT.

Following the draft, players will be required to attend a 16-day minicamp starting December 3rd. This will be followed by a centralized training camp beginning January 4th, at a location that is still to be announced. After this camp, players will travel to their respective cities on January 22nd.

XFL active rosters will consist of 52 players, with 46 players active on game day.

Team 9 will consist of 40 players.
Lover of the game, and looking forward to Spring football. Reporting on the XFL.

Ugh. 52-man rosters? Really?

If there's one thing the XFL should have learned from the UFL and AAF, it's that you can't expect to be able to fill NFL-sized rosters without NFL-sized revenue. The old XFL made do with 38, and while that's probably on the small side, the FXFL showed that a league could play with 40, easily.

I thought the 45-player limit was ideal. This is not. If Vince follows through on this, he'll burn his initial investment up in two years instead of three or four.

I don't think an extra seven players per team is going to make that much of a financial difference. That said, I do agree with the preference for smaller rosters, but ultimately I don't think it'll have a major effect on the product on the field. Larger rosters must mean the powers-that-be think there are more than enough viable players to make up the rosters in the league. I guess that's a good sign.

Pretty sure 52 players has been the plan for a long time now. 45 was just the active roster (it's news that they bumped it up to 46).

I'm surprised Team 9 is so small. Luck said they wanted to have some depth at each position which might be hard when you can't fill out a totally unique 1st and 2nd team.

What's the difference between 40 and 52 when you have to oversign because of a lack of depth? Las Vegas had something like 70-75 players on their final roster, so it's highly debatable that you can "make do" (some would add an o) with rosters that don't even have full second units.
