It’s a Gargoyle. This is the logo basically. Does it have Egyptian ties to it. Sure but the NY logo is along the lines of a half man half beast Gargoyle. It is such an awesome symbol for the term Guardian.

Exactly. The "guardians" of New York consist of many different stone structures (which include Gargoyles and Lions). People from NYC understand the nickname, but all of us got an idea in the film Ghostbusters. Some of these team nicknames seemed to go over people's heads. The names were well-conceived.

My main issue with the poll was the fact that they put New York and Houston in the same matchup instead of having one of them go up against DC and the other against Tampa.

A thought I just had, would the Wildcats have been better off combining their 2 logos? Separately they're both kinda plain, but together it’s not bad, and with a few tweaks it could be pretty good. Thoughts?

I like the LA logos, but combining them does look much better.

So does the New York Life building. It has several half beast gargoyles that look like lions with human bodies and wings.
