Yea, but many weren't invited to the summer showcase, and many did have tryouts in NFL rookie camps, and some, but not many invited to from the Spring League. I'm sure they have been waiting on NFL roster cuts, as we know.
You gotta remember this is an 8 team league that just worked out nearly 900 players at 8 different showcase combines. There’s only going to be 560 players signed to the league and in camp. 400 plus will end up making the opening day rosters.

If people actually support the XFL in year one. Maybe the league will actually expand and have more teams but for now. More teams means more players. In order to do that. The league needs more money.

Word on the street is that Geno Smith is going to be brought back on Sunday. Because as a veteran. He doesn’t have to go through the waiver process. He becomes a a free agent immediately. The Seahawks cut Geno so that they didn’t have to expose another player through waivers. They are doing this until their recent trades go through. They would technically be over the 53 man limit if they didn’t do this.

That appears to be the case. When you see the term terminated near a player’s name. That means that he is free from the waiver process. Some teams will list the names that have been terminated and those that have been waived.

The bottom line is this league is looking for the best players. Period. Most of those players are going to be the ones cut from NFL camps today. Sure, some fall through the cracks, but almost two dozen Spring League alumni have received Draft Invites. In my opinion, while it's not EVERYONE, it's a pretty high number: http://www.thespringleague.com/2019/08/ ... vitations/

It will be interesting to see how it goes, hopefully they can expand more, if successful this year.

Here's something: Of the 48 players who attended Showcases and were signed by NFL squads for training camp, only two made it past final cuts and it's only because they're both on injured reserve (and likely will be waived with an injury settlement at some point): RB Taj McGowan with the Jags, and WR Amba Etta-Tawo with the Giants.

Interesting. I wonder what the number is for AAF players who made the 53 man rosters. There are some players that appear to have made the 53 man that could be cut tomorrow when teams make their waiver claims.

It’s good that you brought that up. There were 83 Players from the AAF that came into this weekend with a shot at making the 53 man rosters.

As of this moment. 9 of them have made the NFL. There could be more that make practice squads tomorrow. There’s still the matter of waivers so since the majority of these players are on the bottom end of rosters. Their spots are not entirely safe.

Here is the list of players from the AAF that have made the NFL as of press time.

QB-Garrett Gilbert-Browns
RB-D’Earnest Johnson- Browns
LS- Cole Mazza- Chargers
OL- Brandon Greene- Panthers
DL- Mike Purcell- Broncos
DB- De’Vante Busby- Broncos
DB- Kameron Kelly- Steelers
OL- Daniel Brunskill- 49ers
K- Taylor Bertolet- Jets (hanging on a string)

Quarterbacks John Wolford, Logan Woodside and Luis Perez have also been cut. They could be PS candidates.

Defensive Lineman Karter Schult was cut by The Vikings. He could be a player that gets claimed on waivers tomorrow.

Another surprise cut was Greg Ward with the Eagles. He may get another shot on the ps.

I agreed with you on this. Also in the first few weeks, some key players may get an injury (Knock on woods) and the one who were cut earlier could be hired to replace the injured players. It's going to be a stressful September and October for the XFL to pool many players from the league. I think, not sure if this is right, the draft for the XFL is in October?
