Insane Journey - Jelani Irby

Post by FootballJunkie19 »

I created a topic on here not too long ago about underdogs. Well look no further. This man has bust his tail for many many years. His story is very unique. I have been around lots of football at different levels. I have NEVER heard a story like this! The kids name is Jelani Irby. He's from Washington, DC and a free agent receiver. His story has been covered by some respected sites. There's quite a few write ups on him from the USA Today & SB Nation as well as podcasts. I heard that he'll be on another podcast in the very near future with the USA Today's Texans Wire. Apparently he's the cousin of former Cowboys running back Ron Springs (lead blocker for Tony Dorsett) and Seahawks & Redskins DB Shawn Springs. He's also coached high school football and had a major impact in helping the team reach two state championship games in back to back years. How this man isn't playing professional football with this kind of resume, I'm not sure. He spoke to two NFL teams months ago but nothing truly transpired. The XFL is the perfect fit for someone like him if the NFL won't give him a look. Someone who can play the game, has plenty of knowledge and definitely has to passion for it. Here's his Twitter accounts pinned tweet. Everything is there. Read up on him and watch his stuff.

Nice story. The football world is filled with stories like these. If the XFL is smart. They shine a spotlight on these types of players.
