Ah, so the Showcase roster probably just put the wrong college next to his name. Thanks for the tip!BringIt wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2019 2:13 pmMatt Wells was a speedy linebacker from Mississippi State who had a short stint in the NFL with the Bills (?) I think. He was safety sized so may have transitioned positionally.GregParks wrote: ↑Sun Jun 23, 2019 12:04 am On the Seattle roster, there is a safety named Matt Wells from Utah State. Wells, of course, is the former head coach of Utah State. So I'm not sure who that player is supposed to be, as I can't find evidence of a Matt Wells football player from that school.
Otherwise, the Spreadsheet has been updated for Seattle.

There have been a few of these missteps by the league’s media department in these showcase rosters. Names spelled incorrectly and the wrong schools being listed. Good spot by bring it.GregParks wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2019 2:24 pmAh, so the Showcase roster probably just put the wrong college next to his name. Yes, any misspellings or incorrect colleges (though most are that they seem to randomly select one college to represent players who have played at multiple colleges) I've tried to correct on the Spreadsheet.MikeMitchell wrote: ↑Thu Jun 27, 2019 2:26 pmThere have been a few of these missteps by the league’s media department in these showcase rosters. Re: XFL Summer Showcase Spreadsheet
I've updated for Tampa, but when trying to replace the old file, it says the file I'm trying to import is too big. Oops. I'm traveling right now but will try to take a look at it and figure it out within the next few days.
Before the Showcases started, I was worried the league may not have enough talent from these Showcases to even sign the 200 they were looking for out of this. At this point, I'm wondering how they shave it down to 200 as I'm impressed with the guys who've been listed as participating in these Showcases.

It's funny that you say that. As a true football nerd. I just took the task of guessing who the XFL is going to sign from these showcases to contracts. I just posted it on the board.GregParks wrote: ↑Sun Jun 30, 2019 9:49 pm I've updated for Tampa, but when trying to replace the old file, it says the file I'm trying to import is too big. Oops. Oliver Luck mentioned 250 to 300 signed players recently, in an interview on Seattle Radio. So I landed on 300 signings, even though we have one more showcase to go. The league has already worked out 735 players. So they are going over 800.
Eric Galko said that the league's intention is to sign as many of these players as possible. They are not tryout type players in his eyes, more like players who they like, working out for them. The football department has done a very good job, all things considered of convincing agents, to have their players work out. With the exception of Junior Galette, of course. A veteran who felt insulted, because he got an invite.

Re: XFL Summer Showcase Spreadsheet
There are probably a lot of guys who turned down invites, Galette is just the only one who went public with it. He's an emotional dude who absolutely believes he ought to be an NFL starter, let alone on an NFL roster. He's probably not completely wrong, and he would be under contract with the Redskins today if he hadn't made a comment about their offer of 2 years, $4 million as "slave wages" and gotten the offer pulled. I think if he wanted to sign with the XFL, they would still be glad to offer him a spot even without the tryout.
If anyone cares to put their finger on the pulse of the Galette situation, I would recommend this recent podcast he did with the Redskins beat report John Keim: https://johnkeimreport.libsyn.com/junio ... fl-inisder

I didn’t really make it public but Galette came at me pretty hard when I found out about his invite through his agency. He and I had a good discussion after he tried to mock the idea of it. I understand where he is coming from. He is a good player for sure and I respect him.Tank55 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 01, 2019 10:13 am There are probably a lot of guys who turned down invites, Galette is just the only one who went public with it. Re: XFL Summer Showcase Spreadsheet
To Greg.
I received word that Jonathan Hernandez, the punter from USF. He worked out at the Tampa Showcase. For whatever reason, he wasn’t listed on the roster.i am trying to find out if any other specialists worked out, that weren’t listed.
Update* - Matt Mengel the punter from UCLA also worked out. He worked out at both kicker and punter. He posted it also at his Twitter account.

Also kicker/punter Jonathan Barnes from Louisiana Tech, also worked out.

Thanks Mike. As Rich Eisen would say, "Punters are people too."
