New US TV deal for the CFL?

According to TSN's Dave Naylor, he states that the new US TV deal the CFL has is close to be being finalized. There are two networks involved, money isn't a game changer, but meaningful.

Sounds like the CFL went back to ESPN since TSN(Naylor's employer) is partly owned by ESPN. Naylor would have sources connected through his bosses. Maybe ESPN gave the same deal they gave to the XFL 3.0 to keep them on board.

Thought anyone?

They'll probably get $1 million from ESPN, up from the $250k a year prior. If there's actually a second partner, either NFL network or CBS sports network with a time buy/revenue share deal.

We'll see.

You know what the XFL got from Disney?

The main reason ESPN likes the CFL is because it gives them professional sport (other than MLB) to carry during the summer months when colleges are out of session. It's the same reason why Fox established the USFL.

It'd be interesting if ESPN indeed dumps fall games on FX like they did with the XFL during basketball/hockey season, but I don't think they will.

That's an interesting idea. At least later for WestCoast audience. They'd need to change the TSN feed alittle to brand more. But They could experiment if indeed they need programming there. I just don't know if CFL FB appeals enough.
