“UAB
Former coach Bill Clark has healed nicely from the back that caused him to resign before the season. However, don't look for him to return to the program he built from scratch. We're hearing former Virginia Tech coach Justin Fuente or veterans like Sumlin, Brown (if West Virginia makes a move), Skip Holtz and Larry Fedora.”

If Sumlin, Holtz or Fedora return to college, we should be happy for them to get back into college football.

Another good catch but that would suck, especially Skip Holtzherns wrote: ↑Tue Nov 22, 2022 12:31 pm “UAB

Re: UAB is looking at USFL coaches for their coaching search
Interestingly enough, UAB closes out with Louisiana Tech. A win makes UAB bowl eligible (CUSA only has four ATM) and LT would finish the same 3-9 as last year with Holtz--which could and likely would have been 7-5/8-4 given his track record, think they might be reconsidering?
Sounds like a 'HAHA' at first but remember LT is crossing over to the less threatening CUSA next year that adds two from FCS (Sam Houston State, Jacksonville State), a might-as-well-be (New Mexico State), and a top 30-40 that's the typical perfectly good G5 team--the college version of a AAAA player (Liberty). If the bridges aren't burned/he hasn't reached 'been there done that' stage yet I'd imagine they'd be trying to get him back.

“multiple sources tell FootballScoop that USFL head coach Skip Holtz, leader of the Birmingham Stallions, has emerged as a central target in the Blazers’ search for their next head coach”
Sounds like UABs all in on getting Skip

That would suck but its sounds possible so we'll need to see what happens.herns wrote: ↑Sat Nov 26, 2022 10:39 am https://footballscoop.com/news/an-sec-a ... ing-search

It’ll be interesting to watch play out, if he stays with the league that’d say a lot imo. That said I still expect him to leave if he is their guy4th&long wrote: ↑Sat Nov 26, 2022 11:03 amThat would suck but its sounds possible so we'll need to see what happens.herns wrote: ↑Sat Nov 26, 2022 10:39 am https://footballscoop.com/news/an-sec-a ... ing-search

Money talks - and he's only 58. But USFL is a much smaller time commitment. Does he go Snoops life balance or full bore CFB. Time will tell.herns wrote: ↑Sat Nov 26, 2022 11:10 amIt’ll be interesting to watch play out, if he stays with the league that’d say a lot imo. Although I said earlier that if a USFL coach leaves to go back to college football that we should be happy for them, I feel like if Holtz leaves and his replacement is from outside the USFL, all of the players who have committed to staying like J'Mar Smith and Bo Scarborough might re-consider.
Also, Sumlin linked to Georgia Tech:

Interim coach Brent Key may have taken a huge step after upsetting North Carolina. GT may even get to a bowl game. That would mean beating Georgia this week. If not, watch for Bulldogs running backs coach Del McGee, Tulane coach Willie Fritz and former Houston/Texas A&M/Arizona coach Kevin Sumlin. Sanders also must be considered given the Atlanta connection.

Idk if they’d be able to leave since I believe they already signed the contract for next year.GDAWG wrote: ↑Sat Nov 26, 2022 12:09 pm Although I said earlier that if a USFL coach leaves to go back to college football that we should be happy for them, I feel like if Holtz leaves and his replacement is from outside the USFL, all of the players who have committed to staying like J'Mar Smith and Bo Scarborough might re-consider.
