This maybe why the stars haven’t signed another qb, waiting to see if cookus would be returning

That's what I have been thinking since they have only one QB on their roster. It could also be that KJ Costello is returning as well because his name hasn't been brought up anywhere: XFL, USFL and NFL. Although that could also mean that Costello has a deal with a CFL team and it hasn't been announced yet.

I like Costello But cookus coming back would be arguably the biggest signing USFL would make, retaining your league top qb for year 2 would be great to seeGDAWG wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 5:59 pmThat's what I have been thinking since they have only one QB on their roster. Not surprised that the Rams didn't bring Cookus back. It was a weird move that they signed him and then like a week later, they signed Baker Mayfield. They will probably go with the same three QBs that were on the roster when the season started in Matthew Stafford (who says he'll be back regardless of whether or not Sean McVay does), John Wolford and Bryce Perkins.

Hopefully USFL can get Case back - he had a great season.GDAWG wrote: ↑Mon Jan 09, 2023 6:37 pm Not surprised that the Rams didn't bring Cookus back. Something to keep an eye on
"Now that he’s had a CFL season under his belt, Kelly said with wherever he goes next — if it’s not the NFL — he would like a chance to start whether it be the CFL, XFL or USFL." https://nypost.com/2023/01/12/chad-kell ... nd-chance/

Re: USFL QB's for 2023
All of these spring league QBs are hoping to be Taylor Heinicke. Yes, Taylor didn't take a single snap with the Battlehawks in 2020 and only signed with Washington because he had been in Carolina with Ron Rivera, but what Ron Rivera has done for his NFL career is what every Spring League QB hopes to strive for. Heinicke has now two full seasons of NFL game footage as a starter and it's unlikely he'll ever play spring football again or be bouncing from practice squad to practice squad as a result. He now has an NFL career.
