A lot of these players may not want to play in the CFL, so it should not be a TV event. What's the point when a lot of those players want to give the NFL a shot when their time comes?
Well, some of these guys DO want to play in the CFL. Like Jake Maier, Lucky Whitehead who were on CFL's Negotiation list

Most of these guys don't even know that they were on CFL teams Negotiation list, All the more to televise teams choosing on who goes on their lists.

The CFL is accommodating on allowing players to take a shot at the NFL, but they must fulfill their contract with the CFL team once their NFL shot has been exhausted. At least, the CFL provides job security when they come back to the league
What should happen is for players to jump to the NFL with the understanding that if they don't make it, they return to the CFL, but it should not be ironclad if they end up making an NFL roster and having a ton of success in the NFL, so much to the point where they get a second long term NFL contract and never returning to the CFL. To do that (having a player still under a CFL contract even if they have a lot of success in the NFL knowing full well they will never return) is stupid and moronic.
The XFL and USFL have the same contractual understanding as the CFL. They must be stupid and moronic also.

Players came back after not catching on with the NFL, like DT Jamal Davis just recently who came back to the Montreal Alouettes, was in talks with the Pittsburgh Steelers to be on their Practice Roster, but want to come back to Canada according to ALs head Coach Danny Machocia

All I have been saying is that a player who plays in the CFL but succeeds big time in the NFL should not be forced to return to play in the CFL when his NFL career is over, especially if he's played a decade in the NFL. Cam Wake isn't returning to play in the CFL after a decade in the NFL. Now if Cam wants to return in a non playing capacity, then cool. That is what I have been saying. That CFL team should relinquish the rights to any player who has succeeded in the NFL, knowing full well that they are never coming back.

Of course, a NFL veteran ain't going to come back to the CFL once he is late into his career or have retired. But former CFL player would be able to get a coaching job in the CFL any time he wants. Guys like Steelers' Claypool or retired Luke Wilson would never get a CFL coaching gig because they aren't familiar playing 3 down football. The best that they can do post career is an temporary NFL insider gig on TSN or Rogers/Sportnet
