The athletic talking with execs about the future of the USFL and upcoming competition with xfl
Stallions averaged 10k for attendance
“The networks, while saying they’re pleased with the audience numbers, may tweak USFL scheduling in 2023 to boost eyeball count. While nothing is yet decided, Fox and NBC may schedule more games immediately after major event broadcasts. For example, NBC said it found success with USFL games on regular TV following the Preakness Stakes and Kentucky Derby.”
“According to EDO, 205 brands spent an estimated $64.6 million on commercials aired during USFL games on Fox and NBC networks this season, through June 25.”
Fox seems to believe the spring football wars will come down to who can manage finances better

Totally agree and - but its not Spring FB wars - its Winter Spring vs Spring Summer. That helps XFL from that one prescriptive.

Not a bad strategy, the highest rated UFL game came after a college football tripleheader on Versus in 2010. Granted there's no bar there but the idea's the same. The Million Dollar Game followed an NBA playoff tripleheader on NBC and there was a significant rebound after the ratings crashed. This is also the idea behind the coveted post-Super Bowl slot.herns wrote: ↑Wed Jul 06, 2022 11:04 am “The networks, while saying they’re pleased with the audience numbers, may tweak USFL scheduling in 2023 to boost eyeball count. What did they feel about the league as lead-in programming? That might be a factor in pairing the XFL up with the NHL (I would), it's not really a true tripleheader (with the NBA) since the time goes back to the affiliates in between--the same as the USFL wasn't a true lead-in to MLB on FOX other than week 10 and ABC's college football isn't really one either unless you have an extra long middle game.

I mean, that's how these things normally go. Pandemics and NFL mergers are the exceptions to the rule that is "people get tired of losing money."
