I'm sure Florio's at attention

And we'll surely get lectured on how the players should be making eight figures a year right off the bat..................

Florio's got the table tilting for sure. Why a union on a league less than a year old?

What a joke.

>> The union seeks to increase player compensation and expand benefits so that they’re more closely aligned with XFL 3.0, which is expected to pay its players slightly more than the USFL’s $45,000 active roster salary. The difference in compensation packages potentially impacts the market as the leagues compete for top talent. It remains to be seen if both leagues can co-exist in an already competitive entertainment space, with FOX and NBC Sports partnering with USFL while ESPN is set to broadcast XFL games starting next year.

While the focus currently is on the USFL, UFPA also wants to provide protection for XFL players, who are members of the nonprofit organization but aren’t represented through a union. <<

WTF... How does a union prevent a bankruptcy? Good luck with that. Lets add cost to a league in a biz with a low survival rate... I hope Fox doesnt sour on things with a union in lala land pushing up cost with little or no bargining power.
Or is this just apower play to get out of the 2 yr contracts?

The last two paying leagues in the last 4 years went under and these guys want to raise costs going into a recession... nutz

>> The Markcast® @the_markcast
.@USFL union update

69 votes for, 32 votes against

Only 112 of 378 players voted

Let me get this straight 30% turnout, and 18% vote of total players voting yes is enough to create a union?

What a joke.

That's not a good turnout.

Or they voted no because only 30% of the league showed up.

I am curious to know what the posters on here who say "this is going to be good for the USFL" are going to have to say at the fact that 266 players didn't even show up to vote, despite the fact that all of them are in the same area.

Isn't there a minimum for a Quorum? - only 18% of those to be represented voted for this union.

turnouts for other CBA votes in sports are usually up around 90%. Yes votes in that case are usually around 70%.
