I'm inferring each network is getting two regular season games a week, one semifinal each, and FOX the championship.

Exciting stuff.

It’s being reported as a 3 year deal and with rights fees. This could be one of the biggest spring leagues at least in backing and visibility we’ve seen

Really good stuff, and as I pointed out a few weeks back, this would be the fifth (or sixth if you count FCF) different alternate/secondary league televised by NBC

AFL (1965-69)
CFL (82 during strike)
XFL (2001)
Arena League (03-06)
USFL (22-__)

NBC was either part of the way the league was set up in the first place or FOX had them in mind from their schedule: Olympics/Super Bowl in Feb, some PGA from March-first Sunday in April. USA takes NBCSN's weekend A10 basketball as well. I'm guessing that the two alternate primary coverage in June when NBC has the US Open and FOX has UEFA Nations League.

Well I picked the wrong day to get busy... while expected this is officially HUGE NEWS. Here's FOX sports on the news...

https://www.foxsports.com/stories/other ... st-partner

With PFT, NBC will be promoting the USFL!! And with NBC's affiliation with PointsBet gambling will get another major gambling option in most likelihood.

17 of 21 games to be on TV per Yahoo Sports... 4 on Peacock exclusive I assume.

>> The Fox-backed USFL has landed another broadcast partner in advance of its spring 2022 relaunch, as NBC Sports has signed a deal to carry 21 of the league’s Saturday and Sunday games. The inaugural package will include 17 linear TV games, including eight airings on the flagship NBC broadcast network and nine outings on the revamped USA Network.

The four remaining matchups will stream on Peacock.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed, although insiders close to the action say NBC has committed to a three-year pact with the USFL. Unlike previous spring-football startups that made their way to the airwaves via time-buys (the AAF) and production/ad-revenue swaps (the XFL version 2.0), the revived USFL is said to have secured a rights fee from NBC, although the agreed-upon fee remains under wraps.

A source with inside knowledge of the deal characterized the dollar figure as “significant.”

CONGRATS USFL - HUGE F##KING NEWS ! While ESPN/ABC is sports king NBC is likely #3 or 4 behind FOX & ABC/ESPN and maybe CBS.

Having PFT (Profootball Talk) talking up USFL is a big plus, its a well traveled website. And with NBC paying a significant rights fee they have a vested interest in making sure the USFL games are highly rated.

BIG news BIG win by USFL today.

This is big news, and any rights fee, whether $1 or $10 million is more than any alternative football league has received in nearly 30 years with the WLAF. Let's just hope the mostly empty, cavernous, stadiums in Birmingham don't turn off potential viewers. I hope we hear something about fantasy and betting soon, then I think the USFL will have some legs.

This is fantastic stuff! There is an old saying “trash ‘til it’s cash” and this is cash. No matter how many rumors we hear or how good the sources, it just feels so much better to have something official like this. TV deals are the most important part of putting together a new league to me and this is just great.

I am so excited to watch football again!

I’d really love to see the numbers of it just for my own curiosity, a paying tv deal is of course a huge w. I wonder if it’s at least part of the autumnal $250 million dollar investment fox told Birmingham was coming from another company

Shocked that they pulled this off honestly. Great early news for the league. Quality of play is going to have to step up big time from TSL to attract and retain viewers.

TSL play was actually pretty good, as Hal Mumme stated. However, they only had 1 week of practice or so preseason and the teams Rosters were 38 players I believe to attract players with more chance of game time/film. Also they had smaller coaching staffs.

Having said that - my guess is the level of play will be improved and the players will be more ready come game 1 then TSL. Not sure if it will be AAF/XFL but it will be very close.
