>>Fox Sports Dropping Major USFL Announcement Today On The Herd, Team Names & Cities
— USFL News (@Newsusfl) November 22, 2021
Birmingham Stallions
Houston Gamblers
Michigan Panthers
New Orleans Breakers
New Jersey Generals
Philadelphia Stars
Pittsburgh Maulers
Tampa Bay Bandits
Could these be the teams coming to the USFL in 2022? We will all be watching ‘The Herd’ to find out. <<

Those markets make up 16+% of the neilsen TV households. A bit short of my own guess of 17-20% they’d target but not by much.
For perspective AAF was just 9+% and XFL 2.0 was 22+%. Its only geographically Midwest/South Central to East Coast also.
Could see USFL expand west in 2023/24 (even with XFL?). Big news on The Herd today I hope.
UPDATE: Teams/cities confirmed. Interesting note on population by Time Zone: EST 47.6%, CST has 29.1%, MST 6.7%, and the PST 16.6%. So more than 3/4 of the USA is in Central and Eastern time zone where the teams are located.

If those are the eight, seems like the divisions would be:
North
Michigan Panthers
New Jersey Generals
Philadelphia Stars
Pittsburgh Maulers
South
Birmingham Stallions
Houston Gamblers
New Orleans Breakers
Tampa Bay Bandits

Not sure I'd love the G League comparison.

Logos look sharp. Obviously they already had a foundation to work with, but the ways they were sharpened are generally positive. Excited to see the Gamblers take the field again -- one of the best football uniforms ever.
The vibe was a bit off. Came across as very AAF / NFL developmental. But obviously Cowherd is independent of the league and not the one setting the vision.

Yes he could have done a better promo, wasn't bad though. Colin is best promoting... Colin. So its no surprise.Tank55 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 22, 2021 1:59 pm Logos look sharp. Overall they got the League word out, cities, team names and and now they need to announce Birmingham (or where ever) they are going to play. Was hoping for Daryl Johnston or Woods on the show.
He tried to avoid mentioning XFL but it came out LOL
Like the logos - like the cities, if going further than Texas/Mich. They seemed to be located for travel costs, many are busing distance from each other.

If they're playing in one location, the city names are really just another flourish on the brand. Can always "relocate" the Gamblers to Austin or wherever if need be when the time comes to move into markets.

Re: USFL on The Herd (FS1 & radio) - Scoop?
Why? Houston is almost 3 times the TV market of SA- this is a TV driven league (all FB are but this more than most).
They will market the franchises to those perspective 7 cities (Birm already at home) PRIOR to local launch and likely will have better attendance than XFL or AAF in similar markets.
