TSL out

Post by herns »

Reports out of Birmingham were they were told fox owned the league and they’d never even heard of woods. Now seems like that’s being backed up by reports

I'm not saying one way or another but there's not much here. They could have bought things out from TSL or they just may not the league to be associated with TSL for PR purposes. Either way FOX is leading the USFL effort and financing it which means its going to be run their way.

BTW Never has the TSL website or TSL ever associated itself with the USFL.

Also- this is old and from the late Josh Davis (was at xflnewshub), poor guy.

That's not what I'm hearing. All was depending on FOX's involvement, and the belief is, they're 100% on the #USFL. TSL was just a tryout for them.

Rumor has it CEO Brian Woods will have a high level job within FOX. Which might also mean he won't be able to continue TSL.

Soooooo... Josh looks like he may have been right early. The way I read that is: Fox was 100% USFL from going back to early June, TSL is done and Woods has been 'paid' or 'rewarded' with the mentioned High Level FOX job. And that's that for TSL.

This all meshes or at least doesn't contradict what we heard out of Birmingham the last 2 weeks since Woods is part of Fox now - well possibly.

RIP Josh, he was a cool dude who loved to talk football whenever he could.
I’ve never seen that tweet but it would make sense, he had other reports that fox is leading football ops, also TSL didn’t associate themselves on the website but at one point the spring league company owned the USFL trade marks

The TSL MAY have owned those trade marks when they were just kicking around the idea but since June and even in the Fox TV commercials for the USFL - they never directly linked the two - ever. Woods hasn't and either has Fox. At some point they were transferred to the the new company.

The Press Release:

https://www.foxsports.com/presspass/lat ... turns-2022

>> FOX Sports will serve as the official broadcast partner for the USFL. FOX Sports also owns a minority equity stake in the company that owns the USFL.<<

Which we now know is called NSFL. Bottomline either Woods is working with Fox, they had a falling out and he's gone or he's a 'consultant' and not part of Fox. Based on the Josh Tweet, he's likely with Fox.

I actually think it’d be smart to have him be part of it, regardless of opinions he has experience. But I do think he needs to be more a consultant than commissioner
