Interesting, if perhaps disturbing, quote from the story:
RedBird also owns French soccer club Toulouse FC and assets from the XFL.
That wording makes it seem like the league is pretty much dead and buried.

Don't know I agree with that. I mean the XFL is pretty much just assets right now as is the USFL for that manner. The XFL is a collection of used uniforms and a handful of executives on zoom meetings. They're not wrong in their summation, and we still don't know what the overall intentions are. I'd put this as a 2/10 on the significance scale

That could also be technical language, a la WWFE buying the assets of WCW (including the name, the actual company died out under the name Universal Wrestling Corporation a few years back). Of course this would also assume that Alpha assumes ownership of the league to some degree, perhaps the Luck lawsuit--which is about all I can think of why it would.

But I doubt Jeffrey Pollack and Janet Duch secretly went to work for RBC, so I wouldn't write anything off as far as the league goes.

If nothing else, if they do go with teams in individual markets, sure seems like Austin is going to be one of them.

TSL has a longstanding relationship with Austin; they held the 2018 and 2019 seasons there. In fact, "Austin Generals" was one of the names of the 2019 teams.
