Re: Vince liquidates $270M in WWE stock for XFL

I wonder what the AAF would be worth to the XFL at this point. Maybe there's some tech infrastructure worth salvaging? But I would think the XFL would just let the league crash and burn and then pick through the wreckage.

Re: Majority investor: Alliance of American Football in danger of being discontinued without NFLPA help

What does it tell you when the Apollos essentially fired their radio broadcast team before last week’s game because the AAF hasn’t paid the bill at the local radio station that was broadcasting Apollos games? https://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/open-mike/os-sp-spurrier-aaf-apollos-dundon-fold-20...

Re: Majority investor: Alliance of American Football in danger of being discontinued without NFLPA help

I think the NFL wouldn't want any part of a proxy war with the XFL. Who does that serve?

Re: What the XFL can learn from the AAF?

My key lessons to learn from AAF mistakes: - Play in right-sized stadiums. - Over-invest on marketing. - Embrace non-NFL offenses. - Have teams train in their home markets. Most importantly, tell your story. The end game for the AAF was an NFL roster. The end game for the XFL needs to be the XFL Cha...

Re: The final four XFL Head Coach/GM openings

Just a quick thought. The XFL might be waiting to see if the AAF goes under to see which coaches become available; Spurrier, at the very least, would definitely be worth snapping up. Of course, Tampa would be the natural place for him, so who knows if that's still workable.

If they were going to be pleased with 15K in attendance, they would have rented smaller stadiums. Of course, that was done pre Dundon. Who knows what his expectations are.

Re: Even in football crazy Birmingham the stands are quite empty

Two more seats to fill. Iron President Tom Ward and Vice President for Marketing Randy Campbell are no longer with the team. It's unclear if they were fired or left the organization voluntarily. “Birmingham Iron president Tom Ward and vice president Randy Campbell are no longer with The Alliance,” t...

Gronk Watch

This is silly, but news is slow. "The WWE has worked with Rob before and would love for him to come and work for the company in a wrestling role and start in their NXT developmental and performance center in Orlando, and then put the rocket ship on him to be on the main roster once he is ready and t...
