Re: Article: Former Wranglers preach patience, stability for new USFL

Has some local (AZ) history of USFL and opines on 2022 version https://cronkitenews.azpbs.org/2021/07/30/former-arizona-wranglers-preach-patience-stability-for-new-usfl/ >> Brian Woods, founder of The Spring League, announced in June his intention to work with Fox Sports and bring back a new iterat...

Re: Hal Mumme interview on the_markcast

Absolutely right about the allure of coaching spring football. To say that coaching in the NFL and even college is a grind and hard on anyone’s family life is an understatement. I remember hearing Joe Gibbs talk about spending the night at his office a lot and that was back in the 80’s. Yeah, there ...

Re: Hal Mumme interview on the_markcast

I really have to believe he would be around the top of the USFL’s wishlist for coaches, especially after the job he did with the Linemen this past season. Clearly one of the most prolific passing game coordinators available, they would be crazy not to have him as a head coach. We know how important ...

Re: GG: USFL interview Mike Mitchell

4th&long - you make some good points and I don’t necessarily disagree with you but my concern is that by bringing back the USFL brand, that comes with certain expectations. If the product isn’t what people remember or expect then the casual fan may tune out. I think some people expect a jump up ...

Re: GG: USFL interview Mike Mitchell

Definitely nothing here that calms my concern about funding. IMO this league will be a lot closer to being the TSL than somewhere in the middle of a TSL/XFL run league. It’s believed the USFL is looking for team owners to step in. This could be a very slippery slope, especially after all the problem...

At least someone is getting some good out of that name.

Re: XFL officially delays start until 2023

I noticed the word international as well. Perhaps the owners of the Argos, Alouettes, and possibly B.C. Lions are still open to the idea of the XFL. It was going to be hard to convince Winnipeg, Hamilton, and Saskatchewan to give up the CFL. At least we now know the CXFL is dead and buried and the ...

Re: The Athletic: XFL players to get pennies on the dollar for what they are owed

This is definitely the first I’ve heard of this. Right after the season was suspended last year, I believe it was the league itself that said that players and coaches would be paid for not only games played but also for games that weren’t played (base salary and benefits). I don’t know if that someh...

Re: RBC hires NFL exec...

MM said that the XFL’s plans were lofty. It seems to me that this is exactly the type of a hire a company would make to achieve those goals. Regardless of his role with the company, it looks like Redbird just upped their game.

Re: New USFL - what will it look like?

I’m definitely on board with your expected league budget. Baby steps is the wording that was used when describing the USFL launch and expected growth, which I think is very fitting. Again, we don’t know who this Brian Woods investment group is yet or how much they are willing to spend. I’m going to ...
