Re: Podcast with Red Bird Cap's Rob K. includes some XFL

I can't blame them entirely. You get into business to make money, they aren't running a charity. While I don't see the networks writing big checks to the league, getting a paying deal with a streaming service can net them additional revenue as well as linking up with the betting and fantasy football...

Re: CFL ESPN Deal & Schedule

Some interesting news out of CFL land. According to Pederson, Calgary has a potential new owner with direct ties to the XFL. This is all after Comissioner Mark Cohon not denying talks with the XFL may restart after the season and also the Argos starting quite a number of former XFL players. Things ...

Tick, tock

Well it's the middle of August and still no peep from B. Woods or Fox. Have any stadium leases be signed, coach's hired, insurance/workmens comp, marketing, or even official team names yet? Even if they wanted to start in Mid-April that's not much time to get a whole lot done. If this is just TSL 2....

Re: CFL Week 1

Pretty much TSL FS1 type ratings for the CFL on ESPN 2. 61k for the Thursday Grey Cup rematch and 174k for the Elks and Redblacks. Being that ESPN pays pretty much nothing to show the games I'm sure they're content. https://cflnewshub.com/cfl-news/cfl-week-one-tv-ratings-on-espn-2/?utm_source=dlvr.i...

Re: CFL ESPN Deal & Schedule

Apparently the Johnny Football debut was on the Deuce and scored large ratings.https://awfulannouncing.com/espn/johnny-manziels-cfl-debut-was-a-disaster-for-him-but-a-solid-ratings-win-for-espn2.html CFL ratings have seemed to drop in recent years however, the Grey Cup which would draw close to 250k...

Re: CFL ESPN Deal & Schedule

Isn't that pretty much the same deal they've had the last 5 years? In fact they would get the occasional game on the flagship ESPN, but not anymore. Just as before, once the NFL starts the CFL is relegated to streaming and ESPN News. Apparently there is a small rights fee ($250-500k) which would bar...

Re: GG: USFL interview Mike Mitchell

One thing's for sure, this won't resemble the USFL of the 80's at all. Not really sure why they're pushing the name besides the nostalgia effect. Even the youngest USFL fan is in the 60+ age range now, not exactly prime advertising demographic. If they're trying to get 6+ owners to buy in and get th...

Re: USFL - XFLnewshub article by Mike M

The fact that Woods, with a net worth of $5 million, is the largest investor is troubling. Are we going to see indoor football level owners trying to run a 50+ man roster outdoor football league? Not at all - who said that. He's the founder. Not the prime investor. And as I've opined multiple times...
