Re: Cleveland MLB team takes the Guardians name

So now as we continue to wait on Garcia, Johnson and Redbird to bring the XFL back, they now have to deal with changing the name of the team in their biggest market. It's another sign that this is looking more and more like a full reboot and that we won't recognize XFL 3.0 if and when it returns. M...

Re: Woods, Fox launching USFL in 2022

The arrival of the USFL does make it harder for the XFL to return. True No more difficult than when the XFL's first season back (2020) was scheduled to go up against season two of the AAF though, right? Potentially more difficult in that USFL has a built in broadcast partner with an equity stake, a...

Re: Reuters: TSL finds 'secret sauce' to survival

As far as the structure... Yes - agreed. And to me B Woods is making it clear what the difference is between an Alt/Minor league (XFL/AAF) vs a true Dev league. And I'll be the first to say as a fan I prefer the Alt league, then minor, then Dev league in that order. But they all have appeal. If The...

Re: TV Rights deals - Gen discussion

Making this the second property that FOX has gotten out of early in the last year--they cut out of the U.S. Open halfway through and it went back to NBC. Unlike CBS/Masters they didn't have a sole NFL window the week they were originally scheduled to do so. Golf is the least suited for FOX so that ...

Re: Reuters: TSL finds 'secret sauce' to survival

Not being "Paid" isn't a problem... they are getting something of value in exchange: The article does not report the benefit and reason why players choose the TSL. Again its something along these lines that they should inform the reader about: "The TSL is aiming to be a true Developm...

Re: XFL not funding CFL return to play...

Agreed, especially the last part of the bold, and I thought that since 10/1/2020 announcement. I mean I wasn't skeptical about it then. 2021 season at that point I didn't think was going to happen because you at least in part had to rebuild all the team infrastructure that had been lost in the bank...

Re: XFL not funding CFL return to play...

As far as the full reboot... my question to the XFL ownership is - why bother buying the XFL? Save $15mm + assumed debt and start from scratch, isn't that a full reboot sans the cost? Did they just buy the XFL to block someone else from buying them (eg VM)? I don't think the acquisition was a block...

Re: XFLnewshub/RPederson: Talks CFL Playing In The Fall, Adopting XFL Rules & More

Agreed. I'd even be OK with moving them to the front in the US, but it is a little dangerous. Likely don't care or not easy to move them in USA and on Canadians side - want to throw the fans a bone. But if they’re playing on a 100 yard field wouldn’t the CFL teams need to move them regardless?

Re: XFLnewshub/RPederson: Talks CFL Playing In The Fall, Adopting XFL Rules & More

Interesting that Pederson's saying in the article the talk is that XFL fields have goalposts in the back of the end zone, CFL goalposts in the back. Seems like a weird sticking point. CFL can bend on number of downs and the Canadian player ratio but not this?

Re: TSL 2021 TV Schedule FOX and FS1/FS2

Interesting comments about the time slot. I think the Feb-April time frame for AAF/XFL was selected as potential fans were likely to be 'trapped' inside - at least up north - due to weather and made for a captured audience. I always assumed that was designed to capitalize on the post Super Bowl &qu...
